Register now for ORIS Summer Research Days

Save the date for a line-up of grant writing information sessions, networking events, and quiet writing time at the ORIS Summer Research Days, Aug. 19-20. Held at the Riverdance Community Centre on LaSalle's waterfront, the three-day event will include a workshop on narrative CVs, a panel discussion with Tri-Agency review committee members, a faculty mixer, an ice cream social with Outstanding Scholars and the Golden Key Society, and interruption-free time to work on grant proposals with ORIS staff on hand for consultation. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. All faculty and postdoctoral fellows are welcome, but registration for each day and event is required.

Event to discuss use of computing tools in research

Are you interested in learning more about using computing to support your research?

Consultants from the SHARCNET computing consortium are hosting a virtual event about the use of Digital Research Alliance of Canada Resources, including available cloud computing resources, the new large computer cluster, the annual resource allocation process for larger projects, and remote desktop and other non-traditional high-performance computing tools. The event runs 1-2 p.m. July 17.

CIHR launches Reviewer in Training program for early career researchers

CIHR Canadian Institutes of Health Research logo

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research has launched the Reviewer in Training (RIT) program for the Fall 2025 Project Grant competition, offering early career researchers an inside view of the peer review process.

ECRs can apply to become Mentees, conducting practice reviews under the guidance of a mentor and attending peer review meetings. ECRs who already hold federal funding can apply to become an ECR Reviewer, participating in the same capacity as other reviewers, but with a reduced number of applications.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 6.

Researchers invited to join online directory

The Canada Foundation for Innovation invites researchers to join the Research Facilities Navigator. The Navigator is an open-access, searchable directory of facilities at universities, colleges, hospitals and government departments.

Since its launch in 2013, the Navigator has helped researchers attract partnerships with industry, connect with academic collaborators from Canada and abroad, and meet students interested in furthering their training in state-of-the-art facilities. List your lab on the Navigator here.

New link for Data Management Plan platform

The DMP Assistant platform recently migrated to national infrastructure. As part of this process the old domain (assistant.portagenetwork.ca) has been retired and will no longer connect to the correct page. The DMP Assistant is available by using this link: dmp-pgd.ca.
