-
The last day to turn in your ballot for the Colorado Spring Mayor Runoff Election is May 16. So far, voter turnout for this election is low. Have people in Colorado Springs given up on the idea that government should represent them?
-
Whoever the next mayor is in Colorado Springs, he will get a nice healthy pay raise, thanks to voters.
-
Our newest crop of city council candidates in Colorado Springs raked in a lot of cash in their races.
-
If you are looking for an explanation of Governor Jared Polis’ plan to take your TABOR refunds for “property tax relief”, here it is.
-
But wait: Governor Polis and his cronies in the legislature were so excited to use rising property taxes to steal your TABOR refunds, that their hastily-drawn-up law contradicts an existing measure that is already in the works. The law requires that this measure they title Proposition HH, should be titled Proposition II. They don’t work for you, they work for what they can take from you, so legal requirements aren’t a high priority for them.
-
Friend of Springs Taxpayers United Jeff Crank had an extensive discussion regarding the attack on the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights. You can listen here.
-
Governor Polis signed a “fix” to the hastily-passed retail delivery fee, which is really a tax disguised as a fee we are all forced to pay now, so that government grows even more.
-
Concrete ramps for driveway approaches are being blamed for road deterioration in Colorado Springs.
-
Colorado Springs Utilities met to discuss how they will implement a clean and sustainable energy future for you. Here’s a video of the meeting if you want to review the discussion.
-
Mountain Metropolitan Transit in Colorado Springs will offer “free” bus rides all summer long. Except they are not free. You pay for them with your tax dollars.
-
Denver is back to being a sanctuary city again, and is processing hundreds of new migrants from other countries. City officials report they are not prepared for the volumes of people they are seeing, however.
-
Your taxpayer dollars have been given to the local bike share program, Pike Ride, so that people can lease e-bikes.
-
People along the Front Range voted to have wolves imported to places where they don’t live. A plan has been approved, but nobody has any idea where the wolves will come from.
-
Poor Richard’s downtown is offering recycling. The establishment has placed recycling bins out front for anyone to use.
-
Some families in El Paso County are experiencing delays in food stamp recertification because of significant increases in applications, largely due to the poor economy and increased cost of living.
-
Penrose Public Library closed this week due to an altercation between patrons.
-
If you would like to help support us in our mission as government watchdogs by becoming a Newsletter Sponsor, we are offering two sponsorships for each weekly newsletter, at the nominal cost of $100 each. Here are some upcoming meetings in the area. We hope you can attend one or more!
