Because Lutherans love an inspiring moment. Property Steward Joe Kane shares this view from atop the church roof in late July. A summer climb to the broiling roof most often means that something is broken or leaking and it is a rather thankless task. But after this visit Joe remarked, "Sometimes ... a trip to the roof is well worth it." We are better together.

New and returning acolytes are invited to join Pastor Marcus in the Sanctuary on this Sunday, August 14 at 9:15am for an overview of the Acolyte ministry, including procession Sundays, how to get on a robe, how to tie the belt, how to light the candles, wear to stand and sit, etc. This is not only a great time for the seasoned professional to dust off the summer rust of this vital worship ministry, but to invite the brand new and interested youth to come and see what it is all about!

The Southwestern Texas Synod was well represented in matching blue shirts at the ELCA Churchwide Assembly in Columbus, Ohio last week. (We see you PM and Jonathan!) They gathered under the theme, Embody the Word. Churchwide Assembly is the primary decision-making body of the church and a process of communal spiritual discernment. During their time together the voting members meet with confidence in God’s grace around word and water, wine and bread, to carry on their work on behalf of the entire church. Over the course of the assembly, voting members:
- Heard reports and reviewed the work of churchwide officers, leaders and units;
- Received and considered proposals from synod assemblies;
- Elected officers, board members and other leaders as specified by the constitution or bylaws;
- Established ELCA churchwide policy;
- Worshiped together;
- Adopted a budget; and
- Conducted other business related to the ELCA churchwide organization.
Once Pastor Marcus has a chance to catch his breath after such a busy week he will be delighted to answer your questions about his time at Churchwide Assembly. Videos from the 2022 assembly are available here.
