Dear Rex,
Greetings on this Indigenous Peoples' Day! Thank your for helping Maya indigenous students in Guatemala.
Our supporters work fast! You exceeded our anonymous matching donor's fifteen-laptop challenge, and I was able to take advantage of some retail promotions to purchase 40 new rental computers! Our new Program Coordinator, Julio Herrera, starts tomorrow, with a donation from another anonymous donor from North Carolina to bridge his salary until the new laptops are rented next year. (For more about Julio, look for an upcoming Facebook post. The donor knows Julio personally and is very excited that we are bringing hm on board.)
Thank you so much if you helped us with our challenge! But if you missed out on that last match, we now have a second challenge to benefit Instituto Maya Comunitario Kamolbe (IMaCK), the remote Qeqchi indigenous secondary school we equip. A third anonymous donor will buy 15 computers if you buy 15! The donated laptops we've sent to IMaCK since 2022 are needing more frequent repairs in Tactic, especially battery and keyboard replacements. This and IMaCK's geographic isolatation translate into a serious problem with downtime. We would like to replace all of IMaCK's unreliable laptops with new professionally refurbished machines meet our present commitment properly. IMaCK has also made a commitment -- to continue to make its Ministry-approved diploma track for Accounting with Data Processing available to its students.
We can buy and ship a laptop for $150. So, $75 is a whole laptop for IMaCK students, and $150 buys two.
We want to take advantage of Black Friday prices, so the donor's match offer ends on Thanksgiving, November 28. You and I... we both know how it works... I will be sending you weekly reminders... nags... between now and then. But if you donate early, I will remove you from the list for this campaign. The computers should arrive at IMaCK by the second week of February if purchased on Black Friday.
If you are ready to help us with this project, you can give now with this PayPal link.
