A Big Weekend Ahead

by Father Casey

I want to use the precious space of these opening sentences (readership lessens the longer you have to scroll!) to remind everyone about our special weekend ahead. It is what we call “ingathering,” when everyone is invited to submit estimates of giving for the coming year, and also our annual Fig Fest Celebration honoring our church’s 70th anniversary.

The Saturday service happens as usual, but on Sunday there will a single, combined service at 10:00am. It will be followed by a fun outreach project for all ages, and then we will spill outside on what promises to be a gorgeous day to enjoy the party. If you are the type to enjoy dressing up, we invite you to dress from the 1950s!

And lest anyone think it will be so crowded at that single Sunday service that they should just stay home, let me reassure you: not only is there plenty of room, but it’s not a true all-parish ingathering if the church isn’t full!

We’ve been calling the campaign “Journey of Generosity” in hopes of being a bit playful on a subject that can feel very serious: giving. Those who’ve been around for a little while know this is a pattern – anyone remember the extra-long table or the giant...

This Weekend

Calling All Gardeners

The Gardening Ministry meets the first Saturday of every month to help maintain the beautiful outdoor spaces across our campus. Come outside and join us in the Belltower garden tomorrow Saturday, November 7 from 8-10am.

Ingathering/Fig Fest

One Service at 10:00am This Sunday

This Sunday, November 8 is our Ingathering and Fig Fest celebration. We will begin with one combined Eucharist at 10:00am where you can place your Estimate of Giving for 2027 on the Altar.

Following the Eucharist, join in a church-wide outreach project and cap it off with Transfiguration’s annual Fig Fest celebration of food and fun for all ages!

This year, our church is coming together to assemble To-Go meal bags for people living at St. Jude Center.

Adopt an Angel

Stop by the Angel Tree this weekend and help bring Christmas joy to one of the 110 children whose families receive groceries from the Fig Food Pantry. Take a food pantry Angel from the tree in the Gathering Space and return it with a gift card as directed. Alternatively, you can donate before November 29, and the Food Pantry will donate gift cards on your behalf.

You can also adopt an Angel from Vogel and fulfill the Christmas wishes of a child dealing with homelessness. Or gather supplies to fill stockings for residents of Our Friends Place. The deadline to deliver these donations to the church is November 29.

Vestry & Diocesan Delegate Results

Election results from last weekend's Parish Wide Elections are in and certified by the Vestry. Results were published on the web on Sunday, November 1. Clicking the button below will allow you to see the results.

The program will feature Bach’s Sonata No. 3 in G minor for Viola da Gamba & Cembalo, Phantasy for String Quartet by RoImogen Holst, and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 10 in E-flat Major, “Harp.” Performers will be Maria Schleuning & Kristin Van Cleve, violins; Matthew Sinno, viola; Gayane Manasjan Fullford, cello; and Joel Martinson, harpsichord. Be a Part of the Fun

Children's Chapel

Each Sunday we host Children’s Chapel where kids are able to experience scripture, prayer, song, and worship in a way they can understand and enjoy. Children are able to attend this service while parents attend the special combined 10:00am Ingathering Eucharist this Sunday. We meet on in the Gathering Space prior to the service.

Impact Kids

Kids can make a difference one small action at a time. Fourth & fifth graders are invited to become an Impact Kid. As an Impact Kid our young people are given the opportunity to be ministers of the Gospel. We empower kids to make a difference in our community, helping the hungry, cheering up isolated seniors, preventing bulling, and more. We will explore complicated issues helping kids grow as disciples of Christ. Impact Kids meet on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.

Youth Crossover

Crossover, our Youth Group of 6th-12th graders, invited youth to gather for an evening of food, faith, fellowship, and fun every Wednesday in the Youth Center from 6:30pm - 8:30pm!
