A new documentary from Silverthorn Films

Help us make this documentary a reality!

Dear Friend,

Working to strengthen the bond between dogs and humans is not only the focus of my professional career, it is also my greatest passion. I know how deeply you value the relationships you share with dogs and how committed you are to meeting their needs as fully as possible. That shared dedication is why I’m reaching out to tell you about an exciting new project aimed at bringing this message to millions: when it comes to our relationships with dogs, we can do better.

We Can Do Better: Our Relationship with Dogs is a feature-length documentary that explores how we can deepen our connections with dogs by truly understanding their needs. The film will highlight dogs at every stage of need, from rescue and shelter support to adoption and adjustment in new homes, while educating viewers on how to recognize and meet those needs effectively. It will also showcase the remarkable work of professionals and volunteers who devote their time and expertise to improving the lives of dogs. By raising awareness of responsible dog ownership and what dogs genuinely require to thrive, this film aims to inspire meaningful change and reinforce the belief that we can do better.

I’m thrilled to be partnering with Silverthorn Films to bring this story to life. With more than 30 years of experience producing documentaries for PBS, Discovery, ESPN, and leading educational and nonprofit organizations, their team brings both exceptional expertise and a shared passion for improving the lives of dogs.

We are currently in the pre-production phase, which includes research, development, and creative planning. A critical component of this stage is securing funding. Our immediate goal is to raise $40,000 to complete pre-production, capture initial footage, and produce a high-quality trailer that will help us secure additional support for the full film.

I would be grateful for your support and ask you to consider a contribution to help bring this project to life. Your generosity will help adopted dogs succeed in their new homes and strengthen the lifelong bonds between dogs and the people who welcome them.

I’ve attached a one-sheet with additional details about the project. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas, I truly welcome the opportunity to connect. Thank you for your time, your consideration, and for all that you do to advocate for better lives for dogs.

Thanks!

Brian
