Thank you, volunteers, for helping CPS students feel seen, supported and successful as we finish up the first semester of programming. We are ramping up to start recruiting for spring programming (Art & Science in One) as well as continuing to recruit for our programs already running or starting a second session. Please spread the word!

Art & Science in One (AS1) is an outdoor program in which volunteers mentor fourth and fifth graders from Tobin Montessori, focusing on observing nature in a calm and mindful state, noting and sketching what is seen, and supporting one another through these endeavors. Art experience is not necessary and training is provided!

We are looking for volunteers to join Cohort 1 (beginning in March). You may register for as many cohorts as you would like. If you are a new volunteer this year, please fill out the application below. If you are already volunteering in another CSV program, please email David directly.

The second session of the Learning Centers starts the first week of February and we have a need for tutors at our 5 upper schools listed above.

The Learning Center program pairs volunteers with students in grades 6-8 for a weekly tutoring session where volunteers will assist with homework assignments, reinforce study skills, and provide general academic coaching.

Please join us at 5:00 p.m. this evening for this interactive Math workshop that will help new and experienced tutors understand how to engage students in mathematical thinking, build confidence, and develop problem solving skills. Please register below or feel free to just drop in.

Extra time will be provided this year for more hands-on practice and modeling of how to handle specific situations that come up for tutors. Bringing a personal device would be helpful.

Please note this training will take place at the Cambridge Street Upper School, located at 840 Cambridge Street.

Join CSV for a workshop to learn more about Amplify CKLA, Cambridge Public Schools’ new elementary literacy curriculum. You will learn why Cambridge chose a new curriculum, the theory behind the curriculum, and how the curriculum aligns with the middle and high school literacy curriculums. Resources will be shared to help you better support students.

Open to all volunteers (preschool-12) but will be most relevant to elementary and middle school volunteers.
