Message from Mayor Kapszukiewicz
I was happy yesterday to join members of Toledo City Council to encourage all Toledoans to join us for six upcoming public meetings, and to complete a survey, to help us determine how best to direct Toledo’s American Rescue Plan Act funding.

Our city is receiving $180.9 million from the federal government through the American Rescue Plan Act, and all Toledoans should share their thoughts on how that money should be spent under our local program, which we have named the Toledo Recovery Plan. This is a great opportunity to make infrastructure improvements, including a lead line replacement program, and we are eager to hear creative ideas from the public as we go through this process. All of the details can be found at this link: toledo.oh.gov/recovery. You can also email ideas to recovery@toledo.oh.gov.

The first meeting is 6 p.m., Thursday, July 22 at Rogers High School, 222 McTigue Dr. There will also be a virtual meeting at 12 p.m., August 4.

Toledo City Council and I have also created a Toledo Recovery Plan taskforce to ensure that the needs of Toledo, its businesses and residents, are met with American Rescue Plan Act funding. We are focused on five areas of investment in the Toledo Recovery Plan: youth, recreation, and parks; safe and livable neighborhoods; job creation and economic development; green and healthy housing, and avoiding cuts to city services.
James M. Ashley and Thomas W.L. Ashley U.S. Courthouse Groundbreaking
The U.S. General Services Administration in February unveiled the design for the new annex at the James M. Ashley and Thomas W.L. Ashley U.S. Courthouse in Toledo.
When the plans were unveiled, I was excited to see the glass design would pay tribute to Toledo’s historic role in the glass industry. It will be a modern and beautiful building, helping to continue the evolution of an important part of downtown. I was honored to participate in the groundbreaking yesterday.

The $86 million project allows GSA to construct a nearly 96,000-square-foot courthouse annex and make significant upgrades to the existing historic Ashley U.S. Courthouse.
I wish everyone a great weekend. As I write this, the weather forecast calls for more rain tonight but it should dry out by tomorrow.

If you see flooding on your street, or water enters your basement, we are always there to help, 24 hours a day. Call Engage Toledo at 419-936-2020 to report flooding or any other concerns you have.
