Falls Church (Va.) schools open new ballfield

Ribbon-cutting launches modern facility in Northern Virginia school district

Falls Church City Public Schools officially stepped up to the plate on March 25, unveiling its newly transformed Mustang Baseball Field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, ceremonial first pitch, and the season’s first home game. What was once a traditional grass field is now a fully enclosed, high-performance facility built through months of coordinated design and construction. From community leaders and student-athletes to project partners and mascots, the opening brought together everyone who helped make it happen. See how this Northern Virginia project came to life and what it means for the students and community it serves.

Are your summer blitz projects ready?

Test your readiness by answering five questions that separate progress from delays

Summer may feel far off, but for PK-14 facilities leaders, the outcome of every “summer blitz” project is largely decided right now. As budgets close and the school year winds down, spring becomes the critical inflection point where scope, procurement, permitting, materials, and scheduling either come together—or quietly introduce risk. In this B&D Perspective, B&D Program Manager Dan Nebhut outlines the five readiness questions that separate smooth, high-impact summer programs from reactive, delayed efforts, while highlighting why portfolio-level coordination and proactive communication are often the difference-makers. If you’re responsible for delivering projects in a tight summer window, this is a timely check on whether your plans are truly execution-ready—or about to be tested.
