Fit Family Report

Dear Friends,

How we hate to be disappointed! Unfortunately, small and large disappointments are part of human life. As painful as those instances can be, we must learn to carry on and cope with the sadness disappointments bring.

Equally important is to teach our youth to work through hard times when they don't get the rewards they anticipate or things don't go their way.

This week's feature articles include advice by psychologists about keeping our mental health resilient even in the face of disappointments, and how to help our children cope as well.

But that's not all – as a special bonus, this newsletter includes a worksheet to use for youths, or even for adults, to help cope with our feels.

Here's to wishing you many, many successes, and a very limited amount of disappointments!

With love,

Marta Perez, Ph.D., JD

I hope you enjoy the Fit Family Report as much as I delight in sending you news about what we can do to live happier, healthier lives. Please share this report and email me with your thoughts and suggestions.

"When children learn at an early age that they have the tools to get over a disappointing situation, they'll be able to rely on that throughout childhood and even as adults," says Robert Brooks, Ph.D., co-author of Raising Resilient Children. "If you bend over backward to shield them from disappointment, you're keeping them from developing some important skills." Read more here.
