Description:

Healing through music! Targeted for age groups 3-12 years old with the primary focus being on ages 3-7. Participants will learn songs and games that use rhythm and repetition to calm the nervous system and support regulation in ADHD and dysregulated children. Children need to know music can be used as a safe container for their feelings through storytelling, emotional song and dance and symbolic play. Participants will walk from this training with printable activity guide, song lyrics and chord sheets, list of recommended instruments and where to find them, and links to music therapy playlists and videos!

Participants will need:

• Scarves, ribbons, or streamers
• Rainsticks, hand drums, or DIY instruments
• Emotion cards or visuals
• Space for movement (even seated)
• Optional: puppets, stuffed animals, or visual props

Learning Objectives:

• Identify how to use music and play to support self-regulation, self-awareness, and emotional expression.
• Describe ways to address grief and loss, divorce, ADHD, and emotional dysregulation.
• Demonstrate creative techniques using props, movement, and instruments.
• Develop a toolkit of engaging, developmentally appropriate activities.

Presenter: Amber Woodward LCSW, MT-BC

Amber Woodward LCSW, MT-BC is a a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and board certified music therapist (MT-BC) who has been a therapist for over a decade. She has a master's degrees in social work and music therapy. She is trained in DBT, CBT, and EMDR, and use techniques from bibliotherapy, music, and geek therapy.

Cancellation Policy:

Written notification of cancellation must be received in our office at least 10 business days prior to a training for a refund. A $25.00 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. There will be no refund for cancellation notification less than 10 business days.

CBPS reserves the right to cancel a training due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment. In the event of such cancellation, you will receive a full refund. 

Cancelling your Zoom meeting registration does not constitute cancellation of your CBPS session registration. Please refer to our cancellation policy in the training announcement, which supersedes all other mentions of options to cancel your registration.
