President's Message

Welcome to Louisiana HIMSS! My name is Bryan Taylor, and I am your 2023-2024 Louisiana HIMSS Chapter President. I grew up in Louisiana and have served the community as a nurse practitioner for 20-plus years. I became part of the local health IT community in 2014 starting with telehealth and digital health and recently adding healthcare quality innovations to that scope of focus. Louisiana and the national HIMSS chapter were the first organizations I joined, and they continue to be a resource for learning about new healthcare IT innovations and networking locally and on the national stage.

The Louisiana chapter of HIMSS has exciting plans for 2023-2024. We want to offer members more networking and social gatherings along with lunch and learns that will feature new topics appearing in the local and national health IT communities. Louisiana HIMSS along with Mississippi, and Alabama are organizing the 10^th annual Gulf Coast 3 (GC3) conference in Biloxi, MS this November. There is an exciting agenda and location picked out, stay tuned to the website for updates on registration, call for speakers, and student posters.

Our organization relies on volunteers to make our activities possible. We welcome new members and fresh ideas to our board. Whatever your interests or specialty, we hope you will consider engaging with us. By volunteering with Louisiana HIMSS, you will have the opportunity to provide leadership and get to know the healthcare IT community. Meet the new 2023-2024 LA HIMSS Board!

The 2023-2024 Meet the Board event, held on July 20th at the City Pork Restaurant in Baton Rouge, was a success. The event brought together members of our organization and the local HIMSS community for an evening of networking and sharing. Attendees were able to connect with our board members, who shared insights into our organization's mission, vision, and future.

We appreciate all those who attended the event and made it a success. If you missed the event, no worries - there will be plenty of other opportunities to get involved and connect with our organization.
