See 15th, Be 15th

15th District Chicago Police Department has a focus of innovating, empowering, and positively impacting youth and families in the Austin neighborhood to change the narrative of community policing and bridging gaps to strengthen peace and increase communication. Mounted units/ horses will be on site at Columbus Park, as well as marine and other units to answer questions and for photo ops. Austin All-stars will be participating in a baseball game while Police Explorers will also be engaging with other youth on site. #RemakeDaysCHI

IMPACT into Action

Youth will learn how to make and edit movie shorts on social emotional issues that they want to talk about. Students will learn team building, lite production skills, editing in adobe premier and Imovie maker, basic camera techniques, and digital production. Are you curious, creative and socially engaged? Are you looking for something to do this summer? Intuit is the place for you! The IntuiTeens summer program is a unique opportunity to meet teens from across the city, explore your creativity and celebrate the power of outsider art. All IntuiTeens help fulfill the museum’s mission to celebrate outsider art. However, each IntuiTeen will explore what engaging with outsider art means on their own terms. That’s what is so exciting about outsider art: making something for your own enjoyment and your own expression!

Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP)

What : The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is the metropolitan planning organization for the 7-county region of northeastern Illinois. CMAP’s FREE youth leadership development program, Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP), seeks to help youth take an active role in their future through the understanding of planning and policy development processes and how they can shape the future.

FLIP is a FREE program where teens learn about the issues that shape our region and think of solutions with other students from Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties. Applications close May 27.

When : FLIP Summer 2019 runs from July 15 to July 20. The deadline for applications been extended to May 27, 2019.

Where : FLIP sessions take place in the CMAP office with fieldtrips to different areas of the Chicagoland region.

Why : CMAP wants to help youth shape their future, and it’s completely free!
