The idea of neurodiversity started in the 1990s to highlight that people with autism have many unique strengths, not just challenges. Over time, the term has expanded to include individuals with ADHD, learning differences, and other ways of thinking that don’t always fit into traditional molds. Today, many educators, employers, mental health professionals, and advocates are rethinking how we support and empower neurodivergent individuals.
At this conference, we’ll explore the evolving definitions of and perspectives on neurodiversity. You’ll hear from experts, professionals, and individuals with lived experience who will share the latest research, practical strategies, and powerful personal stories.
Whether you’re a parent, teacher, employer, healthcare provider, counselor/therapist, an individual seeking support, or just curious to learn more, this event will offer valuable insights into embracing different ways of thinking and empowering potential.
The conference opens with a presentation panel sharing a unique blend of professional and lived experiences featuring Samantha Kolkey, LCSW, Jennifer Gerlach, LCSW and Debra Vines, moderated by Natalie LaDuke, PhD, LCP, NCSP.
The panel will be live streamed via Zoom.
The in person presentation will be followed by lunch and three rounds of afternoon breakout sessions facilitated by speakers from a variety of backgrounds. It is open to all adult community members and will offer up to 5 CE/CEUs for mental health (APA, NASP, IDFPR), human resources (SHRM PDC) and school (ISBE) professionals. Our sponsors and exhibitors will be present to share their information and resources with the community, and we'll close the day with a networking reception.
Please plan to join the conversation. Registration for in person and virtual attendance opens Monday, April 14, watch your inbox for an early bird discount registration code.
