Drop the Mic Media MKE is Opening in August!

Richard Williams is opening Drop the Mic Media MKE, offering full-service podcast audio, video and post-production services. Just talk to him for a moment and you'll feel his energy and excitement about podcasts and the infinite use of green screens.

He has been working with MATC students and faculty for educational opportunities and also participating in the Handshake Program, where area colleges share a job search and recruit platform for all students and getting them internship and fulltime job opportunities.

A variety of life experiences led him to this dream business, with one of his first jobs as a radio announcer. The idea came from his wife's dessert business and him wanting to make videos of her instructing bakers. (You will find her at the Downtown Market serving up Georgia's Best Cheesecakes). His many years of experience in operations management and other entrepreneurial ventures have primed him to provide a quality service to the community and beyond.

Keep an eye out for his grand opening this month, partnering with neighboring businesses to welcome him to the community. DeRango's is providing pizza, Les Fashionistas with free hairstyles, his wife's famous cheesecakes, and more.

Welcome New Business

Welcome MPK Catering to South Milwaukee!

We are excited to announce that Amy Gajewski and Victor Muñoz, the husband and wife duo behind MPK Catering, are moving to South Milwaukee and taking over the restaurant space at 925 Madison Ave. They are transforming this space into a top-notch commercial kitchen for their catering business and creating a shared kitchen environment for local food entrepreneurs. This shared kitchen will provide much-needed commercial kitchen space for other local food businesses, fostering a collaborative and vibrant food community in our city.

MPK Catering is a catering company which specializes in whole pig and chicken roasting, using traditional open-coal, live-fire cooking methods commonly found in Eastern Europe and Puerto Rico, creating a menu inspired by our cultural roots, featuring flavors from Puerto Rico and Poland, and our love for local, seasonal, and fresh ingredients.

At every opportunity, we source our meats, produce, and ingredients from local Wisconsin farmers and butchers, and proudly offer year-round catering services, including our whole pig and chicken roasts. What was once a seasonal tradition in Wisconsin is now available as a year-round offering suitable for any type of gathering.

Stay connected with MPK Catering! Follow us on social media for updates, behind-the-scenes looks, and special offers. Visit our website at www.munewskisporkandknife.com to learn more about our catering services and the upcoming shared kitchen space.

Bucyrus Campus Proposal Progressing

Scott Crawford, LLC presented a modified redevelopment proposal for the Bucyrus Campus lot to the Plan Commission in July. On August 27th, the developer will present updated plans and renderings of the three vacant office buildings, site improvements and a new three-story multifamily building (shown below) to the Plan Commission. Final drawings are anticipated for review by the commission in September with anticipation that all city project approvals are realized by the end of the year, not including building construction permitting.

New Hanging Sign Grant Program Approved

Downtown businesses may be eligible to receive a $500 grant to add a pedestrian-scale hanging blade sign, often referred to as pub signs. The low-cost signs have huge benefits for businesses and for a downtown, increasing visibility and building awareness to attract visitors.
