Happy April!

Hello Spring!!

The days are warmer and the front door of the office has been open to let the fresh air in.

April is also known to bring some rain. We all know the phrase "April showers bring May flowers"! The rain is necessary to prepare for the beauty of Spring's blossoms. The rainbow follows the storm. If you're struggling, whether emotionally or physically, know that we are here for you to weather your storm and support you.

No matter what, your body will be able to handle these challenges better if you are free from vertebral subluxations. Your body will function better whether you feel better or not. Handling these challenges AND having subluxations is like driving a Maserati with one foot on the gas and the other on the brake. Now is not the time to have limitations. You are amazing and deserve to function at your absolute best. Continue to have your spine checked on a regular basis or come back in if it's been a while. We'd love to catch up.

See you on your next visit.

The Safety Pin Cycle

A critical element in understanding the necessity of chiropractic care for every man, woman, and child is explained by a model known as the safety pin cycle. The model above illustrates, in a very simple way, the vital communication that occurs in the nerve system. It just so happens to resembles a safety pin.

The brain sends signals to tissue cells via one side, known as the efferent side (brain cell output) and tissue cells communicate back with the brain via another pathway, the afferent side (brain cell input). In this manner, your brain and body are constantly communicating with each other so every body part can do its job as best as possible.

Unfortunately, this communication can be disrupted by a vertebral subluxation, a misaligned spinal bone that disrupts nerve system function. Vertebral subluxations are caused by the body’s inability to adapt to physical, chemical, and emotional stresses that we encounter every day.

The chiropractor’s objective is to locate, analyze, and assist in the correction of vertebral subluxations (restoring normal alignment and function of the spine to allow the proper brain-body communication). This helps to ensure that messages are getting through properly, resulting in a body that functions better. This makes you better able to give your best to people that count on you.

Why should I have my spine checked if I feel fine!

Only about 12% of the nerves in your body are sensory nerves. Sensory nerves let you feel things like heat/cold, pressure, and pain. Only about 1/3 of the sensory nerves deal with pain and discomfort.

So realistically, how you feel is at best about 4% accurate as to tell you if you are functioning at your God given potential.

Chiropractic's objective is about allowing your body to function as close to 100% as possible. When that happens, it may means that you feel good, but more importantly it allows your body to function better. Remember that just because you do not feel pain/discomfort or do not feel bad does not mean that there is no nerve interference due to subluxations that are causing your body to malfunction. That is why getting your spine checked on a weekly basis is so important to allowing your body to function as best it can, for as long as it can.

Chiropractic absolutes

  1. Vertebral subluxation always causes the body to work at less than 100%.
  2. You cannot ever reach your full potential in life without regular chiropractic care.
  3. There are no alternatives to chiropractic care.
  4. Chiropractic is never an approach to treating disease.
  5. The innate intelligence of the body can always run it better than the finite educated mind.

Enter our “Guess the number of

jelly beans” contest

Don't forget to enter our “Guess the number of jellybeans“ contest (closest guess without going over, subject to tie breaker) each time you and your family have your spines checked. The winner will be announced on April 4 at the end of the day. The winner will receive a gift card. Good luck to everyone!

The wonders of three

As I ponder on the number three, and how it is everywhere; in time, history, in culture, music and science (and shamrocks!).

How many grouping of three can you immediately think of? Here’s a start:

  • Body Mind and Spirit,
  • Small, Medium, Large
  • Past, Present, Future
  • Earth, Wind & Fire!

Triangles with three sides show up visually everyday: As hazard signs, and in scouting, the trefoil symbol, even on our money. A three-legged stool is a balanced tripod. Stories have a beginning, middle, and end. In music, three notes—root, third, and fifth—form a full chord sound that's so pleasing. Around the world, most theological concepts are expressed in groupings of three.

Plants move from seed, to growth, to fruit. It seems nature love its threes.

Three is not accidental. It is structural.

In Chiropractic, we recognize this pattern every day.

Our body deals daily with three main forms of stress and when we can't adapt or have too many at once, these can lead to subluxations. Not new, but here's a sampling that may look familiar:

Physical stress — slips, falls, poor posture, repetitive motion, long hours at a desk, old injuries that never quite resolved.

Chemical stress — processed foods, medications, environmental toxins, dehydration, inflammation.

Emotional stress— worry, deadlines, conflict, uncertainty, life changes.

When physical stress accumulates, proper spinal tone is affected.

When chemical stress builds, tissues become irritated and inflamed.

When emotional stress lingers, muscles tighten and energy shifts.

The spine sits at the crossroads of it all.

Your nervous system coordinates how you adapt, and when you can't, interference wreaks havoc and your ease shifts to dis-ease.

That’s where coming in for care, for a specific personalized adjustment gets you back on track.

Oh, and I saved one last wonderful three for last. We call it the The Triune of Life: Art, Science, and Philosophy.

In a nutshell, it's the skill of adjusting, the research that supports it AND the understanding that your body always has an innate wisdom, striving to self heal and adapt. Every living thing has an innate ability to adapt and so, all ages and stages can benefit from a clear nerve system 24/7/365.

This principle is the 'big idea': the how and why I practice the way I do.

It's as easy as 1-2-3..

I'll leave you with 3 last points to ponder:

1.Are you caring for your body physically?

2.Are you minimizing harmful chemicals?

3.Are you tending to your emotional well-being?

Your spine's doing all it can, and I'm here for your tune up and alignment, because..

See you on the tables!
