Yes, you read the heading correctly. I made a bundle of unexpected money selling vintage and costume jewelry this week! Back in early December, I wrote in my weekly newsletter about an offer from Astor Galleries in Kingston, NY. who will send a free kit, including a box and free return shipping label, to anyone interested in selling vintage and costume jewelry. I like to practice what I preach, so I requested a kit!
I sent Astor Galleries a box of costume and sterling silver jewelry that I've collected over the years but was never wearing. Not only was I not wearing the jewelry, but these assorted bags and boxes of jewelry were taking up precious storage space.
But wait! The box I requested from Astor was too small to fit all of my jewelry so I decided to take some jewelry over to Clarke Auction House in Larchmont during their weekly "Walk-In Wednesday" from 12:00-4:00. Clarke Auction House paid me $330.00 on the spot for my vintage jewelry and Astor Galleries is sending me a check for $311.00! Not too shabby for items that have been living in a dark drawer for years!
Helpful tip...Before sending off the box, photograph the jewelry with your phone in case Astor Galleries has a question, or if like me, you don't want to rely on your memory about what you sent.
So, what are you waiting for?
The photo above is just some of the jewelry I sold, and the forms below are what I filled out and sent to Astor Galleries in the pre-paid box with the jewelry.
