CHARITIES
Thanks so very much to those who helped with our September schools supplies collection. The response was wonderful! Items are being given to All Saints Academy (formerly Christ the King elementary school), Christo Rey High School, and the Run the Race Center and Day School sponsored by the Brian Muha Foundation.
~
The charity we will assist in October is the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. For those who may not be familiar with it, the Ronald McDonald House gives families a home-away-from-home right across the street from Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Open 365 days a year, the Columbus Ronald McDonald House offers comfortable bedrooms with private baths, fully-equipped kitchens with dining areas, play rooms, laundry facilities, a meditation room, exercise room and informal gathering areas. The House also features isolated continuing care suites for a child’s chemotherapy or post-transplant care.
We are collecting travel size toiletries for the families staying at the House - shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body gel or bar of soap, and toothpaste. If you brought back toiletries from hotels while traveling this summer, donate those items also.
~
We are starting now to solicit names of families needing assistance at Christmas. DOE members who know of a family in need that could benefit by being “adopted’ should send an email to Marianne Wenger mwenger1101@gmail.com describing their situation. Deadline to submit: October 15 - FIRM.
This will allow sufficient time to review the families, meet with them to determine needs, organize a wish-list spreadsheet, prepare the sign-up genius, and create tags for the Shamrock Club “tree” – all needing done - before - Black Friday.
THANK YOU for everyone’s generosity to our charity collections each month.
Thank you, Marianne Wenger, mwenger1101@gmail.com.

SOCKTOBER 2026
Greetings Irish Community! As of October 1, 2026 the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians will once again begin collecting new socks for donation to the needy and homeless to be distributed by St. Aloysius Outreach Program on Thanksgiving.
All sizes are needed from infant to adult. There will be collection bins at both Tara Hall and the Shamrock Club. The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians is humbly asking the Irish Community to be generous in the gathering of these much needed and gratefully received socks as the winter months are just around the corner. Amazon has socks in bulk a vailable online and the Dollar stores are also a good source for bargains.
Last year we "all", collected 803 pairs. We are shooting for the stars to at least match that number. The collection will run from October 1 through and including October 31.
Thank you in advance for your consideration to be an integral part of making this
drive a success.
