Advent from the Manger

Christ Church invites you to experience Advent this year from the perspective of the manger. Hunger is a universal experience, drawing attention to our most basic and complex needs. We await Jesus, who nourishes us and our hungry world. At the back of the church please pick up these From the Manger resources: Advent Calendar, Advent for Families, and Advent Devotional for Adults.

Adult Advent Series

This Advent we invite you to reflect on the life-sustaining hope, peace, joy, and love that Jesus brings and to notice how the baby born in Bethlehem (“House of Bread”) continues to feed a hungry world today. We shall use the From the Manger Advent Devotional as the basis of our discussions. You may pick up a copy from the back of the church or read it online at https://tinyurl.com/4jy8497y. Join Deacon Daphne and Jonathan Clark for the following Monday sessions, 7:00-8:00 pm, via Zoom at this link: https://tinyurl.com/mwhb4yhw. You will be able to participate whether or not you have read ahead of time.

Christmas 2025 Flower Memorials and Gifts

Each Christmas our Church is beautified with flowers memorializing departed loved ones, commemorating anniversaries or representing thank offerings. Contributions in any amount are welcome. Flower memorials and gifts may also be provided throughout the year. The cost for a single date in 2026 is $50. A perpetual memorial may be established with a one-time contribution of $500.

To be included in the printed Christmas leaflets, we must receive your request no later than Friday, December 19.

Will you consider a donation to our Christmas music? Donations may be given as memorials or thanksgivings. Please make checks payable to Christ Church, and mark the memo line “Christmas Music.” Gifts may be mailed to the Parish Office or put in the collection plate. Three 1-yr term representatives for Alternate to Diocesan Convention (1 meeting + associated costs)

Six 1-yr term representatives for Delegate to Northern Convocation (Attend 3 local meetings)

Nominations for the offices to be voted on should be made through the Committee by completing and signing a nomination form and submitting it to the parish office or giving it in person to any member of the Committee.

Photo Directory Photoshoot

On Sunday, December 7, from 9:00am-12:30pm, Donna Gioia Volpe Photography will be on site to take portraits for the Christ Church Photo Directory.

Please plan to get your photo taken on one of these two dates for inclusion in the directory. All names and contact information will be included even if a photo is not available.

This is a great opportunity to get a formal portrait for yourselves too! This is an added fundraising opportunity for the church.

The cost for the digital download, where pictures will be lightly edited, is $25.00. The photos will be sent to you via email for download and printing through your favorite service.

Have something to share with our wardens? Meegan Adames, Rector's Warden & Jonathan Gloster, People's Warden, will be holding office hours on the first Sunday of each month.

December 7-Reflect, Realign and Relaunch!

Join the members of the Search Committee as we Reflect, Realign and Relaunch our Mission Statement. This interactive session will have each participant, individually and as a collective, dig into our core values to identify our WHY. This will then guide the revision of the Christ Church Mission Statement to reflect who we are as we enter our 4th Century. Please join us in the Ross Room after the 9:30 service.

Join us in the Nicholas Room on Saturday, December 13th at 11:30 AM to meet our wonderful guest musicians. Grab a slice of pizza while you hear about their musical journeys—from performing at the Met to traveling the world, to launching their careers in the competitive world of professional music. Come be inspired! These talented musicians will be enhancing our choirs at the Lessons & Carols service (Sunday, December 14th at 9:30 AM) and the Christmas Eve pre-service concert (7:00 PM, service at 7:30 PM).

Join St. Alban’s online each Thursday evening from 7pm- 8pm for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. St. Alban’s has encouraged the wider community to join us and many of the attendees come from different congregations locally as well as internationally.

We invite people to testify if they are prayerfully led and also encourage them to send their prayer requests in advance if they wish. Some attendees come prepared from time to time to not only testify, but to give a word of encouragement.
