The Honor Giant program seeks to recognize our students annually for academic achievements, attendance, behavior and activity involvement at school. These criteria are the standard HPHS would like all students to strive to achieve during high school. This growth mindset model enables every student the opportunity to be recognized as an Honor Giant after each school year. Emails will soon be sent to students and families who earned this honor for the 2023-24 school year. Additionally, students will be recognized during Homeroom on November 15, 2024. Congratulations to all those who met the criteria. Visit the Honor Giants website to see how any student can achieve this recognition after their freshman, sophomore, or junior year!

ACTIVITY TICKET: The purchase of the 24-25 yearbook is tied to the purchase of an activity ticket bundle! Now is the time to make this purchase before HPHS places their order with our yearbook publisher. You will find the purchase link in the Infinite Campus School Store. Activity Ticket purchases fund the entire student activities program. This bundle includes a yearbook, free admission to athletic events and free admission to student-directed fine arts events (STUNTS & the Short Play Festival) using a student ID. An activity ticket purchase also supports our school's literary magazine, school media/newspaper, all theater productions, assemblies, and all-school special activities. Yearbooks are part of the Activity Ticket bundle and are not sold separately. Students must go to the bookstore to redeem their free theater tickets. Of course this purchase is optional, however we do not order extra yearbooks to sell once they arrive. You can set up a cash payment plan in the bookstore if needed.

A FRAM discount (students enrolled in the free book program) is available when you go to make your purchase in Infinite Campus. The cost is $50. For more information, please contact Norma Aguilar, nagular@dist113.org .

Fall Sports Updates

The season came to an end for some of our teams this past week.  Our Varsity Football team defeated Vernon Hills 43-36 in dramatic fashion on Friday night.  It was a fantastic way to finish the season for our Senior Football players and Marching Band members.  Varsity Field Hockey gave it their all in round two of the state playoffs, but was defeated by Lake Forest.  It was a great season for the members of the Field Hockey Program.  Boys Varsity Soccer also has a lot to celebrate, despite having their season come to an end in the Regional Semifinal.  The program made giant strides at all levels this Fall.  Finally, our Girls Tennis team capped off a championship season with strong performances at the IHSA State Finals.  Mira Schmidt and Gabby Gold went 1-2 in the doubles competition.  In singles, Nadia Barbieri had a tremendous state tournament going 4-2 and showing a lot of grit and resilience in her Friday matches.  Congratulations to all of our athletes and coaches.

Congratulations also goes out to Varsity Girls Volleyball on a special week.  The team defeated Maine East on Monday and Niles North on Wednesday.  They are riding their current winning streak into the state playoffs.  Our Giants take on Lincoln Park High School on Monday at the Niles North Regional.  Go HP!

Our Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams ran well at the Glenbrook South Regional.  For the Boys, Dylan Dominguez (3rd place), Lucas Hoobler (11th place), and Henry Gamson (15th place) led the team to a 4th place finish.  The Girls finished 9th as a team and were paced by Maggie Mariano (22nd place) and freshman Kate Kubicki (40th place).  The IHSA Sectional is next Saturday at Busse Woods.

Registration Night - Wednesday, October 30th

Wednesday, October 30th our Athletic Department will be holding an Athletics Registration/Information Night.  It will be at 7:00pm in the HPHS student cafeteria.  This event is geared toward families who are new to the registration process and have students interested in trying out for winter and/or spring sports.  We will be sending out a blast to families.  Please help us spread the word to your programs.  It would be great if at least one coach from each Winter Program can attend.

Community Opportunities

The HP Giants Varsity Hockey Team stays HOT with a huge 4-2 victory over New Trier on Thursday night! That’s 3 straight league wins, moving the Giants into 3rd place in the IHSHL (only 3 points out of 1st). Dylan Lansky got the scoring started in the 1st, followed by 3 goals from Casey Rategan for the official ‘Rat Trick’. AJC was again solid in net, making 24 saves in his 3rd league win in a row. The Giants travel to Madison, WI for a Multi-State Tournament this weekend before returning home to face Notre Dame at CIA on Wednesday, 11/6, and then rival Deerfield on Friday, 11/8, at Glacier Ice Arena as part of the Chicago Blackhawks Rivalry Series. To culminate the experience, the Blackhawks invited Senior Captain, Dylan Lansky to take part in a promotional event with Deerfield Captain, Alex Richter during the Blackhawks/Predators game Friday night at the United Center. It was a great way to build momentum for this already heated rivalry and we appreciate the NHL’s support of high school hockey and making this game a classic.
