Pastels...Pastels...Pastels!!

Come shop our selection of Holbein Oil Pastels in the Art Supply Store at Frame of Mind.
Endorsed by the Oil Pastel Association of America (OPA), Holbein Artists’ Oil Pastels feel and move like a chalk pastel without the dust.
Holbein Artists’ Oil Pastels are the culmination of over 75 years of research, development and manufacturing expertise in the oil pastel field. The manufacturing process is entirely automated to ensure uniform color distribution throughout the entire stick. Individually sleeved, each stick is made in a square shape for working versatility.
Due to the parafin content and highly refined mineral oil, they will never harden completely. Therefore, all finished work should be mounted under glass.
Holbein Artists’ Oil Pastels can be applied to almost any ground. They are used extensively over finished acrylic and oil paintings.
Unlike oil pastels that use vegetable oil, Holbein Artists’ Oil Pastels are inert once laid down and will not dry out or crack.

Past, Present, and Future
Art by Alan McQuillan

Featuring an eclectic mix of street photography, stained-glass-like photographic art, and experimental back-lit Celtic-inspire artwork, this will easily be one of Alan’s biggest art shows with around 50 works of art.

Originally from Britain, Alan’s photographic journey began around the age of 10 when, on a family vacation, he saw a pond that inspired his natural ability to see light and composition. This then sparked an enduring passion with art, and he began a lifelong experimentation with printing and the best technology to create the images he sought.

During a student exchange trip to America in 1970, Alan decided to permanently move to the states, which then led to a career as a forestry professor at the University of Montana. As a professor, everywhere he went, Alan still carried a camera and continued to experiment with darkroom processes. As soon as he was able to retire from education, he pursued his artistic passion, and since, he has continued to win international recognition.

Alan believes in the healing power of beauty and the therapeutic power of pleasing imagery that includes humor, whimsy and simple human interest. He hopes his photographs, marker art, and digital images illuminate those themes. Above all, he will tell you, he does it for the joy and creativity that art brings to life. A lifetime passion has become a full-time occupation.
