Blue Jay Pointers

While it doesn't always feel like it fall is slowly creeping in with shorter hours we go to 7 p.m. closing on Oct 19 and then Daylights Savings will be coming around on Nov 1 putting us down to 6 p.m.

Deer gun hunting season starts October 17. NO hunting is allowed withing Blue Jay Park boundaries.

We are surrounded by a lot of game lands so it's not unusual to hear occasional gun shots, especially as it can echo around the lake area.

If you do choose to go outside of county park land this fall please make sure to wear high-vis jackets, hats or other safety equipment. Learn when and where hunting is allowed to keep yourself safe.

More information can be found at the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.

Playground shades have now been installed, check out the new colors around the area.

We're anticipating the Education Center reopening sometime in October.

Shelter near the playground is well under way and making progress.

Cistern for the nature playground has been added at the playground restrooms.

This program will involve hiking about 1.5 miles total up and downhill on gravel terrain. There will also be extended periods of standing.

You'll find Blue Jay staff at a couple libraries in October.

Feel more at ease in the outdoors by learning to identify the more dramatic species of animals and plants that live in our area.
