Highlights of the June 26, 2024, Session Meeting

Pastor Tami Recob opened the meeting with a reading from Autopsy of a Deceased Church. There was good discussion and celebration of the evidence that God is alive and working through CHPC. Among other actions, the Session:

  • Approved minutes of the May 22 meeting.
  • Approved, after the fact, the Rev. Andrew Hartmans to lead a memorial service in the sanctuary on Saturday, June 8, in memory of Keith Duerr, father of Elise Duerr and ex-husband of Andrea Trautwein.
  • Approved Kashama Lengulula and Nelly Ngandu to use Henry Young Fellowship Hall for a wake/memorial service on Friday and Saturday, June 28 and 29, in memory of Nelly’s father, who died recently in the Congo.

Other things discussed or decided:

  • The Crescent Hill Neighborhood Council has chosen CHPC for a Spirit Award to honor the church’s contributions to the neighborhood and broader community. All are invited to the Peterson-Dumesnil House when Pastor Tami receives the award Thursday, September 5, 6 p.m., on behalf of all of us. Mark and Barbara Barnes and Jane Larsen-Wigger plan to be there and will be recognized by Tami.
  • A proposal is expected soon from the Jefferson County Master Gardener Association for possible usage of CHPC property and help with our green space maintenance.
  • Soni Castleberry and Polly Cushman volunteered to meet with Pastor Tami to review her first four months. (If you have any feedback, let Soni or Polly know within the next week.)
  • The OPS Committee continues to work with church treasurer Jack Marcum about plans for a new treasurer by the end of 2024. If you have ideas, let Tami know.
  • Personnel Committee has had a positive response to the search for a new Music Director and is following up on three promising applications.
