When I think of Iliana Lucero Barron, I think of beautiful, compassionate, and contemplative power. A gentle strength that may be surprising to those who do not know her well. She is not verbose or overly talkative (like many of us on the CTG Board of Directors) but her unique contribution to the conversation is often astonishing. She listens in such an active and engaging way that when she does speak it can quickly silence the cacophony of dramatic voices. At a meeting last year, she surprised us all by opening up and making a powerful statement about respect and inclusion. Now, when Iliana talks, we stop and listen. Lisa Young said it best, “Iliana is one of the most creative, thoughtful and talented humans on the Earth. She is a quiet storm and a Swiss Army knife, bringing skill and passion, pure integrity and grit to our community.”
