Denver Sanctuary City Chaos, Prison Inmate Vote, New Laws We Didn’t Need, and More!

Here are some of the stories we are following this week. Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for up-to-the-minute news.

  • This week's newsletter is sponsored by Armi and Joni Hall. Thank you to the Halls for supporting our mission!

  • It’s time for our annual fundraising drive for Springs Taxpayers United. We could not do what we do without your support. Any donations will go toward helping us in our efforts to deliver reporting other outlets are just not willing or able to do, such as:

  • We’ve attended and recorded numerous public meetings and shared them on the “Springs Taxpayers United,” YouTube channel. Our recordings have informed many neighborhoods throughout the county.
  • We’ve written over 30 articles this year, exposing wasteful spending by El Paso County, the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Utilities, and local school districts.
  • We’ve shared city council and mayor candidate surveys with readers. Isn’t it important to know where candidates stand when it comes to spending your hard-earned money?
  • We send out an informative, humorous, and snarky weekly newsletter to thousands, keeping folks informed about issues that will impact them financially. We’re your eyes and ears.
  • We need your backing! Please chip in whatever you can, to help keep our mission going!

  • Illegal aliens are flocking to Denver because it’s a sanctuary city. This is causing a 6000% increase in emergency room visits. It’s free to them, but it costs you plenty.

  • Nearly 30,000 Venezuelans, who crossed the southern border illegally, are now living in tents on the sidewalks in Denver.

  • Toilet City is also spending $10 million in taxpayer money on toilets for the homeless. Irony abounds.

  • The government-set minimum wage increased in Denver to $18.29 per hour. However, in reality, as opposed to government fantasy, the minimum wage is zero.

  • El Paso County has lowered property tax mill levies by 20% to comply with TABOR law. Now, if we can just get the state to comply.

  • Property tax levies were also reduced in Colorado Springs, thanks to TABOR. Now, if we could just get the state to comply. We aren’t holding our breath. They don’t represent us. They represent themselves, and the continued failure of their socialist fantasy world.

  • Should there be a limit on building height in downtown Colorado Springs? And, can they actually comply with building plans if a limit is set? The water tank fiasco in Mountain Shadows has us concerned.

  • Speaking of the Mountain Shadows water tank, Flying W LLC is filing a lawsuit accusing the Colorado Springs City Council of abusing its discretion. Why are citizens continually put in a position where they have to sue their own representative government?

  • Radical leftists in the Colorado legislature want to give incarcerated prison inmates the right to vote. So, those who have committed crimes so heinous that they have been removed from society should get to vote to decide the course of society, according to some in the state legislature.

  • Customers of the Mountain Metro buses are voicing concerns about carbon monoxide leaks. Public transportation just keeps looking worse.

  • The radical Colorado legislature passed a tangled web of new laws we don’t need, including a law capping rental deposits, and reducing rental pet deposit fees. We are always just a slew of new nannying laws away from utopia, folks!

  • All these nannying laws are causing public confidence in Colorado to slip drastically in several key areas, all related to governmental overreach. Our crystal ball says this is not an accident. Colorado residents are correct when they indicate they have no faith in public institutions in the state.

  • Governor Polis and his like-minded allies have created a plan to micromanage every aspect of your life. From your energy usage, to how you use open space. The mask is off. Jared Polis is not the libertarian some folks claim he is. He views the government as the master of your life.

  • Speaking of laws, numerous state agencies, including the governor’s office, are breaking the law, and keeping tens of millions in taxpayer money, even though the law states they cannot keep more than $200,000 per agency in reserves. This is just another intentional slap in the face to taxpayers. Why should we obey laws they make when they don’t obey laws they make?

  • Another Colorado Springs homeowner is left with a severely damaged home after a Colorado Springs Utilities sewer line malfunctioned. The city is denying responsibility, even though the homeowner’s insurance company said it was the city’s fault.

  • Colorado Springs Mayor Mobolade is on board the Polis Front Range Rail grift. Not surprising.

  • If you would like to help support us in our mission as government watchdogs by becoming a Newsletter Sponsor, we are offering two sponsorships for each weekly newsletter, at the nominal cost of $100 each. Funds raised from these sponsorship opportunities will help us to keep looking out for taxpayers.

Here are some upcoming meetings in the area. We hope you can attend one or more! If there are other public meetings you’d like to see announced here, please drop us a line. We are happy to include them in an upcoming newsletter. These might be government-related, candidate, or elected official meetings. Thanks!

If you have a tip about a story in the Pikes Peak region that you aren’t seeing reported, let us know. We will see what we can find out.
