SFM Offers Convenience
of Paperless Licenses
The State Fire Marshal's (SFM) office now offers the convenience of paperless licenses to all licensees.

Historically, licensees such as those for fire protection installers, fireworks exhibitors and underground storage tank installers were issued pocket license cards. As of May, however, all licenses issued by the Testing and Registration Bureau (T&R) are now sent directly to our licensees via email.

This serves as their actual license, which can be downloaded and printed, or saved directly to a mobile device for easy on-demand viewing.

All companies licensed through SFM, such as hotels/motels and fire protection companies also receive paperless licenses, which they can print and post in their place of business.

To look up the status of any license issued by SFM in real time, click here. Under Look it Up, choose Testing and Registration and choose a license type.

You will be directed to the eLicense center where you can search for any license issued by our office.
Instrumental in Their Purchase, Former Marshal Flowers Visits SFM Campus to See New Fleet of Training Vehicles
Five years after putting the wheels in motion for a new fleet of training vehicles at the Ohio Fire Academy, former State Fire Marshal Larry Flowers saw the fruits of his labor.

Flowers, who retired from the State Fire Marshal's office in 2017, returned to campus last week to see the new 2020 Sutphen SPH-100 Aerial Platform and 2020 Sutphen Custom Cab Pumper first hand.

These two new vehicles represent the first upgrades to the Academy's 25-year-old fleet and feature several enhancements critical for training firefighters, as well as fire and aerial apparatus operators.

"He started the purchase process for those trucks five years ago, as well as our new maintenance building/forensic storage area," said State Fire Marshal Kevin Reardon. "He had not seen any of that since it had been completed, so it was a pleasure having him on campus to see the fruits of his labor."
