Dear Residents -

After the sweltering heat this week, there is no denying that summer is here. And with it, a break (for both you and me) from my weekly introductions. Rest assured, I will continue to send out the newsletter every Friday with important information about town business and events going on in town. And if there is something that I think you should be made aware of, I will gladly pause my break and include a short introduction.

Summer is a time to relax and unwind, to spend more time with family and friends, and to travel to new places–whether close or far away. As someone who loves to travel, I will be traveling to Alaska this summer – happily checking off an item from my bucket list. Whatever it is you choose to do, have a wonderful summer!

See you in September.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Frank A. Fornario Sr. Memorial Scholarship Award

At the Town Board Meeting this week, Wayne Gavioli, representing the Blauvelt-Orangeburg Republican Club (BORC), presented Valencia Massaro with the first annual Frank A. Fornario Sr. Memorial Scholarship Award. Valencia, a senior at Tappan Zee High School, was also presented with certificates from the Town of Orangetown, Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Congressman Mike Lawler. Congratulations to Valencia and best of luck to her as she heads off to Cornell University this fall.

Sitar Indian Grocery Grand Opening

Supervisor Kenny, joined by County Legislator Aney Paul, was happy to attend the grand opening of the new Sitar Indian Grocery at the Orangetown Shopping Center. While Sitar has been there for a while, it outgrew its space and needed to move to a much larger location at 28-30 Orangetown Shopping Center in Orangeburg. The store has a great variety of products, including meat, fresh fish, vegetables, and health care products. We wish them great success and encourage everyone to check out the store and help support a local business.
