TETHERED VISIONS; RELEASED CODES

Christopher Carter is an acclaimed sculptor whose bold, organic works reflect his diverse ethnic heritage. He is recognized for his contributions to the Miami arts community through The Carter Project/Foundation, a live/work space that hosts art installations and programs. In this exhibition, Carter presents a new series of lenticular photographs, marking a departure from his usual sculptural medium. The lenticular process allows him to layer multiple images, creating visual complexity and depth that compels viewers to engage with the work from different angles.

Though physically lighter than his past works, these new lenticular pieces carry the same conceptual weight as Carter's sculptures. By embracing the unpredictability of the lenticular process, the artist has found a sense of freedom to explore ideas of history, identity, and collective truth. The exhibition title "Tethered Visions; Released Codes" speaks to this balance between control and lack of control, as Carter continues his strategic use of materials to question entrenched symbols and expose systemic divisions.
