THE FOUNDATION | March 2026

Thanks For Swinging For Education!

Thank you to those who spent a beautiful day with us on the course at the 2026 Golf FORE Education tournament. You helped us have an incredibly successful event, raising over $108,000 to support the students and teachers of Seminole County Public Schools. One way these funds are used is to enhance career/technical education programs to prepare student for the workforce. Last year, the Foundation helped purchase new commercial grade kitchen equipment for two high school culinary programs, to help our students earn certifications to go into the hospitality industry. In addition, your donations provide school supplies and essentials for students experiencing homelessness, classroom grants to teachers, and college scholarships.

We appreciate the support of our Present Sponsor - IOA, and our Double Eagle Sponsors - Wharton Smith, Inc. and UDT / Cisco Systems! Thank you for supporting education in SCPS!

Want To Change A Life?

Do you have 30 minutes a week to change a life? Take Stock in Children offers high school students in our program a volunteer mentor, a College Readiness Coach, and skill building workshops to help prepare them for college. Upon graduation from high school and the program, students are awarded a 2-year college scholarship.

Become a mentor to a deserving Take Stock student! By simply being a caring adult offering consistent support, guidance and encouragement, YOU can make a significant impact on a student's life and path to success.

"I want to thank my mentor for always believing in me, even when I doubted myself. Your guidance, support, and honest feedback have shaped not only my education but also my confidence and mindset. You've been a constant source of inspiration - pushing me to aim higher, think deeper, and never settle for less than my best. I'm incredibly grateful for the tie you've invested in me and the example you've set." - TSIC Grad, Class of 2025

Mentors meet with students weekly during school hours on their high school campus and a virtual option is available. Learn more by emailing Shannon Rininger!

Thank You For Spreading The Word

We are thrilled to share that we received 1,172 applications for our Class of 2026 Senior Scholarship Awards! This wouldn't have been possible without or amazing community helping to spread the word about these opportunities.

Our scholarship review is currently underway and students will be notified in the next few weeks if they received a scholarship!

Just A Dollar Month Is Almost Over!

Amscot's Just A Dollar campaign is almost over. The community can support students in Seminole County Public Schools by contributing just one dollar at Amscot locations during the month of March.

These dollars are matched up to $40,000, strengthening local scholarships and student support programs. The campaign will run all month long during March at any location so there's just one week left!

Have You Heard?

Each year the Foundation awards grants to teachers who have a great idea for their classroom or grade. During the month of March Foundation staff have been visiting classrooms to see the different projects in action. At Stenstrom Elementary one project is focusing on allowing students to grow fresh produce that will be available in the school's Harvest Food Pantry providing healthy options to families in need.

Another Grants for Great Ideas project that our staff visited was at Jackson Heights Middle School where students are working on a collaborative shape quilt mural. The mural features motivational words painted on the fabric panels and then sewn together.

These projects help give real life skills to our students while allowing them to have hands-on experiences that allow learning to be fun.
