Thank You For Supporting Our Work

At BCM Georgia, we envision caring communities where everyone has a home and the opportunity to thrive.

We truly could not do the work we do without our caring community of supporters.

More Support = Greater Impact

Your generosity doesn’t just sustain our work, it helps expand it, allowing us to serve more working families in Atlanta and throughout Georgia.

Donors who have been supporting us for years and new donors alike – Thank You! Your gifts truly make a difference.

While calendar year 2024 just wrapped up, BCM is in the middle of our organization’s fiscal year. We are currently on track to support 25% more families this year over last. That’s 25% more families who are able to stay in their homes and achieve financial stability—all thanks to you.

Upcoming 2025 Events

Spreading Seeds All Year Long

The Seeds of Change Society started the year by hosting Cocktails for Change in the home of Katherine and Jamie Fristoe on January 9th. Longtime Seeds members and new friends gathered to fellowship and to learn more about families who’ve felt the impact of BCM Georgia’s programs.

Guests had the opportunity to meet with BCM Georgia CEO Greg Cole and enjoy warm conversations with BCM’s Program Directors before heading home to prepare for Atlanta’s first snow day of 2025.

Continuing the Legacy

The Seeds of Change Society is a giving circle made up of friends and supporters of BCM Georgia. It was established in 2011 to provide working Georgians facing eviction with tools and resources for their economic empowerment.

Seeds will host a series of events throughout 2025 to help educate the community about the work we do to support our vulnerable neighbors. For more details, check out the calendar of events below.

We hope you’ll join us for the next Coffee for Change gathering on February 7th at Mend Coffee & Goods. We’ll be highlighting one of our 3 programs: Emergency Assistance.

The Seeds of Change Society has also just launched sponsorship and ticket sales for its 15th Annual Luncheon. For more information, please reach out to: Seeds@bcmgeorgia.org.

Homelessness on the Rise

According to tallies by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. saw an 18% rise in homelessness in 2024. This is an alarming spike following the 12% rise in 2023.

Within these figures, there is the 40% rise in family homelessness, which does not include data on individuals and families who are forced to stay with friends or relatives because they’re unable to afford housing.

For Metro Atlanta, homelessness rose 7% in 2024, with a similar rise in family homelessness to the national average.

Taking Action to Prevent Homelessness is Key

The growth in housing insecurity shows that as a community we can’t afford to wait for the results to get better on their own. Families are losing homes, possessions, job security, and consistency for their children in schools due to housing insecurity.

BCM is working on the ground, serving community members who face housing crisis. Direct support and programs that give households the financial tools to build structure and a foundation are critical.

At BCM Georgia, we’re currently on track to help nearly 1,100 families in 2025.

One client shared that I had lost my job and was struggling to pay some of my bills. I felt alone in the process and BCM helped to provide rent assistance. I am now pursuing a new career in aviation. Thank you for your support.

Many thanks to every one of you who helps make that impact possible.

A New Budget For Life™ Cohort Starts This Month

January kicked off BCM Georgia’s newest Budget for Life™ cohort. This 12-month financial education program helps working families and individuals achieve financial strength and independence by focusing on budgeting and savings.

This is the second year BCM has expanded the class size to include 50 families. That’s nearly double the size of previous cohorts, giving more working families access to BCM’s proprietary budgeting and financial planning curriculum.

Participants will attend case management meetings, financial coaching sessions, and education classes throughout the year.

The first half of the program will focus on debt reduction. We look forward to celebrating their progress and newfound financial stability on Saturday, June 28th.

Be on the lookout for more details later this spring.
