Stage 1 Evaluations for Female U16 and U18 athletes took place both on the Island and in the Lower Mainland in March. The Interior session is still to come in April. Thank you to everyone that has participated so far, and good luck to those attending upcoming sessions.

The next step for the athletes that get selected is the Stage 2 Evaluations scheduled in May at Tamanawis Park in Surrey.

Alison Sweeten - 2023 Presidents' Awards Recipient

It is a great pleasure to recognize Alison's significant and ongoing contribution to the sport of field hockey as Field Hockey BC's 2023 Presidents' Award recipient.

Alison has held - and continues to hold multiple field hockey leadership positions in Victoria, BC. She is a former Vancouver Island Ladies Field Hockey Association President; Field Hockey Victoria and Field Hockey BC Board Member, and is presently the President of the Vancouver Island Field Hockey Umpires Association.

Alison's field hockey life started in Port Alberni, BC and continues to this day in Victoria. She is a proud member of the Rebels Field Hockey Club, and though she claims to be retired from playing is often found tending goal when the club needs her.

Her greatest achievement is in the umpiring field. Alison achieved national status as a Canadian level umpire, officiating many national championships, CIS and U-Sport championships and Canada West events. She is an umpire course conductor and mentor and has recently decided to broaden her voluntary resume in being trained and mentored as a field hockey technical official. As well as officiating at the performance end of the sport, Alison continues to give back as a mentor and umpire at all levels of community field hockey.

Congratulations Alison!!
