Meet Mrs. Kelly! She works as an Art Teacher at Lakewood Elementary School and teachers PK - 1st Grade Sunday School! She has been at Lakewood for about 8 years and loves working with our children in Sunday School and VBS. She serves as a volunteer in Children’s Ministries, “because I want to be a leader not only in my community but also with our church and for my own children. I want them to grow up with a church family where they can be comfortable while learning and worshipping our Savior. I want to also give other families the opportunity to come and focus on their own prayer and worship time while their students are learning in their own small group.” What’s her favorite thing about volunteering? Building relationships with other members and children - It creates a feeling of family and community. She loves seeing the familiar faces and smiles. When Mrs. Kelly isn’t volunteering, she enjoys traveling, going to the beach, swimming, reading, cooking, fishing, and spending time with family. She even has a sense of humor! “How do you know the ocean is friendly? It waves!” Hahahaha!! When you see Mrs. Kelly around Lakewood UMC, be sure to say hi!
And, this is Mrs. Dani Gathright! She is the Director of Creekside Carolers, our PreK - 2nd grade choir. Mrs. G has been at Lakewood for about 11 years, and she loves “The people, the emphasis on Missions and Biblical teaching, and the Music Ministry!” When Mrs. G isn’t directing her choir, she enjoys decorating, sewing home fashions and accessories, and traveling. Mrs. G even has a little joke for you! “Why couldn’t the pony sing the lullaby? She was a little horse.” LOL…” Good one Mrs. G!! One final thing she wants you to know…”I’m a teacher at heart. I love children and students of all ages.” When you see her around the building, be sure to say hi!!
