Monthly Dance - January 18th

When: Saturday, January 18th

Where: Municipal Arts Center (1119 5th St SW)

Lesson: 7-8pm Intermediate level lesson with instructor Alyssa Lundgren.

Dance: 8-10:30pm with DJ Didi Jennings.

As a reminder, some admission prices have changed in 2025.

Admission Price:

$10 CSDS Members (no change!)

$15 General Admission

$10 Students w/ID

No longer offering a special price for first time attendees or members with birthdays.We accept cash, check and PayPal

Swing Swap Every Thursday

When: Thursdays

Where: Municipal Arts Center.

7 - 8:30pm: social dancing

The May monthly dance will be on Saturday, May 10th (second Saturday of May). Erica Smith will be our guest instructor, so mark your calendar for this special event!

Prices For 2025

As a reminder prices have changed to keep up with increasing costs and so that CSDS can continue to pay the DJs and instructors more equitable fees. CSDS aims to keep member prices low. Price changes will be as follows:

Member dance price: $10 (no change!)
Annual membership: $20
Non-member monthly dance price: $15
Student dance price: $10
We will no longer offer special prices for first-time attendees or birthdays.

Inclement weather, other schedule changes, cancellations of our dances/events will be posted on our public Facebook page (you do not need to have an account) by 2 pm ET the day of.

CSDS has a Code of Code of Conduct. Attendees are expected to be familiar with and abide by it at all CSDS sponsored events.

Ways to Get Involved with CSDS

Become a Member: Members get discounts at all CSDS monthly dances. CSDS offers an annual membership for just $15. Membership dues help to support CSDS and is completely optional for attending our events. To become a member or to renew your membership, please visit the CSDS website or take care of this in person at a CSDS dance. If you have any questions regarding the status of your membership, please contact CSDS.
DJ or Volunteer: CSDS is always interested in recruiting new DJs and volunteers to join our team. If you're interested in being a DJ and helping out our dance club, check out the DJ page on the CSDS website email to the club to speak Ed T. or Kyla.

West Coast Swing Information

Group Classes

Charlottesville has classes through County Parks & Rec, taught by Kristin Wenger. These are 6 week series. The next starts January 8, 2025.
Lake Monticello classes are being offered by Kyla Miller. Next beginner class will start on Wednesday, January 15 2025.
Beginner bootcamp at The Dance Space in Richmond is being taught by Adela Su-Karoliussen & Eddie. Part 1 will be January 12, 2025.

Dance Resources

Check out the CSDS website for other dance opportunities, dance groups/hosts, dance instructors and dance resources (incuding music, shoes, events, training, tips/etiquette)!
Also join the CSDS Planning (Social Events, Rides, Roomies, Etc.) group so you can plan to dance elsewhere like the weekend events or in other communities frequented by CSDS dancers, such as Richmond and Lynchburg.
