Crowley Park Neighborhood Association (CPNA) News Brief

September 2025

Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 23

The Crowley Park Neighborhood Association is pleased to announce its Annual Membership Meeting, taking place on Tuesday, September 23, at 6:00 p.m. at the Richardson Women’s Club. This important community gathering offers residents the opportunity to hear directly from city leaders, connect with neighbors, and learn more about the initiatives shaping both our neighborhood and the city of Richardson.

We are honored to welcome Richardson Mayor Amir Omar and City Manager Don Magner as our featured guest speakers. Mayor Amir will share his vision for the city, highlight current priorities, and discuss opportunities for community involvement. City Manager Magner will provide valuable updates on city operations, upcoming projects, and services that impact our neighborhood. Together, they will help us better understand how city leadership is working to ensure Richardson continues to thrive as a vibrant, welcoming community.

The annual meeting is also a time for residents to get more involved with the Crowley Park Neighborhood Association. Updates on neighborhood programs, volunteer opportunities, and upcoming events will be shared. Membership renewal and sign-ups will also be available for those who would like to join or continue supporting the association’s efforts.

This gathering is not only about information—it is also about building stronger community connections. Neighbors will have the chance to meet one another, ask questions of our guest speakers, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of Crowley Park.

Light refreshments will be served, and all residents are encouraged to attend. Whether you are a longtime member of the association or new to the neighborhood, your participation helps make Crowley Park a stronger and more connected place to live.

We look forward to seeing you on September 23, 6 p.m. for this special evening of community, conversation, and connection.

Neighbor Spotlight: Logan

This month, we spotlight Logan Newell, a remarkable young man who has been a part of our neighborhood for 13 years. Logan came to the United States at just 5 months old for several medical procedures and ended up staying permanently. Now 13 years old,

Logan is a high school freshman at Naaman Forest High School.

Logan has a passion for math and can often be found discussing mathematical

concepts with anyone willing to listen. This past summer, instead of attending camps, he dedicated his time to studying geometry. In addition to his love for math, Logan enjoy playing board games and is always eager to try new ones.

One of Logan's other passions is chess. He has been playing since he was 6 years old and aspires to become a Grand Master someday. This is an ambitious goal, but Logan is making significant progress. His current US Chess Federation rating is 1426, placing

him in the top 20% of all US Chess Federation players and in the top 10% of all junior players. Logan regularly participates in tournaments in the Dallas area.

Logan is looking to connect with others who share his love for chess and is interested in starting a chess club for enthusiasts who want to play and socialize.

PUBLIC SAFETY notes from Neighborhood Safety Committee Chair Terry Ziegler

Since July 1, 2025, there have only been two incidents reported to Richardson Police Department. Both had to do with autos being left outside. If you park outside remove all valuables and verify that you locked all the doors.

We have a crime watch group in Crowley Park and they are the “eyes and ears” of RPD. If you are interested in joining contact the Crime Prevention Unit at RPD or contact Terry Ziegler at 214-455-3294.

If you are leaving town let your neighbors know. Make sure someone picks up the mail and any deliveries left on your front porch. RPD offers house watching service while you are gone. Go to RPD website and search under “Services” and on the left side is “House Watch”. RPD will come to your house while you are gone to make sure everything is ok.

There will be a Coffee with the Cops on Friday September 26 @ 8:00am at StarBucks at Beltline and Plano Rd. Come by, have a cup of coffee and get to know a cop.

On Saturday September 27, 2025, there will be a Public Safety Expo at Huffines Park from 10:00am to noon. Open and free to the public.

Lastly, watch your sped in the neighborhood. This time of year kids are out and getting on and off school buses.
