Evertything You Need to Know About...
In this session of your consignor reboot 💻, we will cover all you need to know about selling clothing & accessories. Let's dive deep into this topic so that all of your clothing can be accepted, and so that you can make more money and sell more items in the next Just Between Friends sale!

**NOTE: In order to complete this reboot session, you MUST click the button at the bottom of the page & take the quiz!

General Clothing & Accessory Requirements:

1️⃣Bring your BEST 300 clothing items (bundling items to stay under 300 is ok)
2️⃣Price $3 or higher (or bundle groups if items aren't worth at least $3)
3️⃣Children's sizes: NB-18
4️⃣Juniors sizes: XS-L ADULT or odd numbers
5️⃣NO maternity (except belly bands & nursing bras in baby section)

*You may sell only season appropriate and current fashion clothing & accessories
*We will be very picky on juniors' styles, so make sure to ask if you are unsure--don't lose your Fast Pass!
Prep & Pricing:

50%-90% of the items you bring will be clothing or accessories, so the way you prep and price them is SOOO IMPORTANT! Treat customers like friends by only bringing items you would want to buy or give to a friend (no stains/damage, over-worn, or out of style please).

Be sure to wash clothes, replace missing buttons, sew loose hems and seams, and clip loose threads. Please button all buttons, snap all snaps, zip all zippers. The newer the item looks and smells, the better it will sell. There are over 1,000 items within each size, so the items that look the best and are priced the best are the ones that sell at full price.

Look over your items well in NATURAL or FLUORESCENT lighting, including items you are bringing back to the sale a second time. Stains re-surface over time. You will lose a Fast Pass for ANY items removed from the floor for quality and 3+ items removed from the floor for style/season. Review our NO THANK YOU list if you need a refresher.

Price clothing at least 50% off retail, asking "what would I pay for this item?". Accessories should be priced very low, and bundled so that the minimum price per tag is $3. Consult our Pricing Guides for more detailed assistance.
Other Clothing/Accessory Tagging Tips:

  • Hanger hooks should point to the left (like a question mark) so everything is facing the same direction on the racks for shoppers.
  • Please use child sized hangers for items <3T & adult sized hangers for items >3T.
  • We do NOT accept department store or clip hangers. (Items end up in floor)
  • Sets tend to sell better in items under size 6. Safety pin second piece securely to the back size of the first, so both pieces' front sides are visible.
  • Pin pants to the top of either side of the hanger hook with 2" safety pins.
  • Attach tags with safety pins to the RIGHT side of the garment so all tags are in the same spot and easy to find.
  • If using a tagging gun, barbs may ONLY go through manufacturer tags or seams
  • Bags, backpacks, and lunchboxes MUST be hung on hangers. We will charge $.20 per hanger that we provide starting in Fall 2024.
  • Reduce your risk of loss by using zip ties on heavier items and by taping OVER the safety pin/tag on higher $$ items. This makes takes difficult to switch. Above all though, ASK A ZONE LEADER for assistance when bringing high $$ items--they will know the best way to secure them.
  • Small accessories (socks, tights, hats, hair bows) will hang on clips provided by JBF. They may be bagged OR safety pinned. Please group in sets $3 or higher.
  • Pre-sort clothing by gender/size/type to be drop off ready. Clothing is hypermerchandised within gender and size by: tops, bottoms, sets, pjs, dresses, & boutique. Coats (winter), Swimwear (summer), dance, sports attire, and costumes are all in their own sections OUTSIDE regular clothing.
  • BONUS: You may also pull out fanwear (Chiefs, Cardinals, MIZZOU, etc) for a small rounder that we will have at the front of the clothing gym.

*Please note that this is JBF System wide and may have some slightly different specifications than our local sale. Follow JBF Springfield guidelines if they differ from the video.
Be sure that you register to sell and schedule your inspection appointment if you have not earned a fast pass! If you qualify for a fast pass, you'll get the link to claim it by email right after a sale and again right before the next sale. To get tagging assistance at any time, try any of the options below:
