Crosstown Connection Sept 19-25

|
We desire to activate our power to pray, and our desire to grow community in our WHOLE congregation - both virtual and in-person. We want families to be covered in prayer this year and to know that they are not alone, but that the whole church family is cheering them on!
|
|
As we begin this school year, we are seeking to both cover our families in prayer and build each up! Would you join us by adopting one of our families for this semester?
In adopting a family, you commit to:
1- Pray for them! You commit to pray for both parents and children as they navigate this semester of learning.
2 - Encourage and support them. We encourage you to find various ways to bless this family with words of encouragement, as well as other acts of kindness.

Encourage!
Our current sermon series is two weeks of encouragement. In this season of emotional stress, how can we come together to support each other? How are we to be the church?
We invite you to utilize a Post-it note. Leave a note of encouragement for someone. We even have daily notes of encouragement on our facebook page. Share it with someone.
Sept 27th we will look at Hebrews 10:25 "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near."

Youth Ministry
During youth group, our 6-12 graders connect with God and others through games, Biblical teaching, and small group community. Our vision is to nurture life-long faith that not only hears God's Word but puts it into practice. Due to Covid-19, we'll meet outside in the Crosstown garage for as long as weather permits. Bring your own lawn chair and mask.

|
Children's Ministry
Families Together is the new initiative to replace Kids Too! during this pandemic season. Families will meet the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month. Families will gather and sit together in the sanctuary for 45 minutes of music, games, lessons, and fun. This will follow all the Covid-19 safety regulations.
|
|
Adult Ministry
This disciple-building process will include listening, learning, and lamenting as we read through Jemar Tisby's book "Color of Compromise" so that we can advance as followers of Jesus who are engaging with Jesus’ call to work against racism. There will be two participation options: in person and on Zoom.

it all starts Sept 23rd at 6:30pm!

Bible Study- Sept 23
Wednesday Bible Study at 10:00am has begun! It was great to welcome 15 friends equally split between in person and online. Each week we’ll gather both on Zoom and in person to hear faith-filled music, pray together, and explore God’s Word. The morning will begin with Lois Young leading from the piano. She will share from some of the great hymns and songs of our faith. After a time of prayer for others, Pastor John will lead us on a “deep dive” into Scripture. Please note that these gatherings will take place in the downstairs Youth Room. All in attendance are asked to wear a mask and insure 6’ of distance from others. No food or beverages will be served.

TreeHouse- Sept 22
"Hopelessness is becoming a defining story of this generation. That’s why TreeHouse is on a mission to end hopelessness among teens. Because we love teens and believe when they know their God-given value, it unleashes untold potential in their lives and our communities." Crosstown's TreeHouse site is returning on Tuesday, Sept 22 at 7:00pm. Please contact Angie for meeting details, angie@crosstowncovenant.org.
Support Group is a time when youth give voice to the struggles they're facing and talk about what's really going on in their lives. We start by hanging out, follow that with a brief lesson, then break into support group. This is a free, drop-in program. No pre-registration needed. We plan to meet outside for as long as weather permits. Unfortunately, we don't provide transportation or a meal at this time due to Covid-19.
