JEPB Administrator and EQD Branch Reports

Area Conditions Improve Slightly

Some Warnings Remain in Effect

Water Shortage Declaration

Phase III Extreme Water Shortage for portions of northeast and central Florida remains in effect.

In May 2026, the St Johns River Water Management District issued an Extreme Phase III Severe Water Shortage for portions of northeast and central Florida due to continued limited rainfall and declining water levels. Recent rains have helped, but much of the SJRWMD still needs more than 30 inches of rainfall over the next three months to eliminate drought conditions.

The declaration places more restrictions on water use. Click below for more information on watering restrictions.

Duval County Burn Ban Lifted

On June 3rd, the burn ban was lifted in Duval County.

Recent rainfall helped improve conditions and reduce wildfire danger across Northeast Florida. While drought conditions still remain, fire danger is currently low and JFRD will continue monitoring fire weather closely.

Please remember that lifting the burn ban does not change Jacksonville’s year-round burning regulations. Open burning without a permit remains prohibited.
