On Tuesday, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro enacted House Bill 1286, which requires human trafficking awareness training for hospitality employees and certain online lodging and reservation companies. The legislation expands Pennsylvania's human trafficking awareness requirements to include hotels, motels, short-term rentals, rental operators, third-party booking platforms, and certain contract workers.

On Friday, July 24, the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals expires. Individuals who were authorized to work under TPS may no longer be eligible for employment. AAHOA urges hotel owners, particularly those in Florida, to review their workforce and employment verification procedures and consult with qualified legal counsel or their human resources team before taking employment action.

The National Asian Pacific American Museum Commission is creating a roadmap for a future national museum dedicated to Asian Pacific American history and culture. The official Congressionally appointed entity is calling on the public to submit comments by July 31 – these comments will document the voices of those who believe Asian Pacific American history deserves a permanent place in our nation's story.
