Greetings!

What is blooming for you right now?

The valley surrounding Holden Village is in full bloom as the summer solstice approaches, giving this valley bright days and soft, long twilights. We are thankful for the drizzling rain to nurture the growth underfoot - the lilac and the pansies, the trillium and the fireweed.

We grow together in the gentle moments that arise in the midst of the busyness… the shared cup of morning coffee, the chance to walk alongside the fresh snowmelt of the river, the glimpses of newborn fawns curled up among the irises. Savoring the satisfaction of putting our minds and hands together in service to something greater than ourselves.

We look forward to welcoming you into these slow moments: the soft, the loud, the jubilant, the mournful, the complicated, and the divine.

Faithfully,

Stacy Kitahata, Mark Bach, and Kathie Caemmerer-Bach

Holden at Home
The flowers in and around the Village are always extraordinary, and they can sometimes be delicious too!

See below for fun ideas about edible flowers from our naturalist Amy Tongue.

This month, the Holden Village antiracism group has been focusing on the intersection between race and queer identities. This article, "The Gender Binary Is a Tool of White Supremacy," examines the links between transphobia, racism, and colonialism. We invite you to read, discuss, and learn alongside us!

Holden Voices
Villager Kelly Snyder meditates on seeds as the basis of life in this powerful reflection.

"There’s a reason we use seeds as an image for this so frequently: seeds of hope, seeds of change, planting a seed or idea… seeds are power. Seeds are opportunity. They’re the smallest and least catastrophic weapons we have, yet powerful when planted and tended to well."
