Community Values
Last week we hosted two virtual meetings with stakeholders to discuss next steps in the process for the Village's response to Executive Order 203, Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative. The Village recognizes this undertaking as an opportunity to affirm our values and strengthen community relations with law enforcement. We believe Black Lives Matter and we support our local police force. These positions are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they are both essential for a healthy and safe community. In the coming days we will be announcing the appointment of members to the Police Reform & Reinvention Working Committee. Click here to read our full statement on this matter published earlier today.
Congratulations to Trustee Bob Fritsche (pictured here with his wife Mickey Santucci-Fritsche) on his appointment to serve as President of the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen's Association. The weekend of exciting community events originally planned for this occasion were canceled, like so much else this year. But we couldn't be more proud to have our colleague serving his fellow firefighters in this important role.
Community Connections
I'll be in Village Hall tomorrow for Open Office Hours from 10am until 12noon. Come by to ask a question, offer a suggestion or raise a concern about anything village related. If you prefer to meet me outside, weather permitting, please call my cell phone 914-640-0575 when you arrive and I'll bring a couple of folding chairs onto the front lawn for us.
To reach out by email any hour:
- Mayor Victoria Gearity (gearity@villageofossining.org);
- Board of Trustees (bot@villageofossining.org); or
- Village Manager Karen D'Attore (kdattore@villageofossining.org).
Have you responded to the US Census? If not, expect a visit from a US Census enumerator. An accurate count is essential for our representation in higher levels of government and our access to funding. Click here to respond today!
Bonus Public Meeting this Week
This week we will hold public meetings on back-to-back nights. Wednesday at 7:30PM our work session will be held virtually. Click here for that agenda. We'll discuss the potential for some new public art spearheaded by the Ossining Allyship Collective. We will also continue our discussion about proposed local law 7 related to wetlands protection.
With Regards,
