Celebrate & Honor Juneteenth in SoIN

Celebrate Juneteenth while honoring Black and African American History at events throughout SoIN. Attend a free screening of Big Medicine: York Outdoors, a film elevating the story of York, the only Black member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, learn about the The Tenacious Nurse Nichols an unsung African American Civil War hero and more. 


Now a federal holiday, Juneteenth has been celebrated in the U.S. on June 19 since 1865. The holiday marks the day that Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas to deliver news of the Emancipation Proclamation – more than two years after the proclamation was made by President Lincoln. This news meant that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were now free.

Upcoming events include Junior Paleontologist; Mammoth, Mastodons & Elephants, Oh My!; Geography, History & Wildlife at the Falls; a Trilobite Scavenger Hunt and more! Many programs are free with admission to the Interpretive Center.

Help show SoIN’s welcoming spirit at the Southern Indiana Pride Festival on June 7! This free, family-friendly, hometown festival takes place at Big Four Station Park in downtown Jeffersonville, featuring live performances, a local vendor market and more! The festival is free and open to all.

Get ready for the ultimate craft beer experience at the Rollin’ on the River Beer Fest on June 7! Presented by Pearl Street Taphouse & Antz Marching, LLC, this festival promises a lineup of 100+ local, regional, and international brews curated by beer aficionados, plus delicious bites from local food trucks all on the campus of the historic Howard Steamboat Museum. Ticket prices vary.

Each summer in downtown New Albany, Bicentennial Park is home to a FREE recurring Friday night music series. June’s performances kick off with Nick Dittmeier & The Sawdusters with The Jenkins Twins on June 6. Mr Please with Vezl, Jordan Wilson & the Coalition with Kiana Del, and Songs From the Road Band with Ellie Ruth Trio are also set to perform in June. 

The Jammin’ in Jeff FREE summer concert series returns to Jeffersonville’s RiverStage this June! The series kicks off with "An Evening with The Crashers" on June 13. Enjoy a special Juneteenth show on June 15 featuring hip-hop legends Paul Wall & Twista as headliners!

Enjoy FREE live music at the "Good Times" summer concert series, held on the Central Green in Clarksville. These concerts occur from 6 – 11 p.m. one Saturday a month from May through August. Enjoy music, food trucks and a beer garden hosted by TEN20 Craft Brewery. On June 21, catch The Echoes opening for headliners The Swerve.

Visit the Cultural Arts Center in New Albany for a free, family-friendly performance by Scotchamo (Scott Scarboro) at 1 p.m. on June 21. The performance is held in conjunction with his exhibition Retro-Active-Vision, now on display through October 18, 2025. Enjoy experimental lo-fi music featuring homemade and repurposed instruments. Registration is encouraged.

New Albany Main Street’s “The SIP” returns to SoIN on June 21 at a new location – the stunning Culbertson Mansion! Taste your way through top local distilleries, breweries and restaurants. Cheer on your favorite bartender in the cocktail competition. Extend the fun with a Wicked Walk Tour add-on. This award-winning summer event sells out fast, so purchase your tickets today!

Charlestown Founder’s Week, June 21 – 28, is a week of fun activities for the whole family! Participate in the car show, corn hole tournament, murder mystery dinner party and more!
