Dear Westwood School Community,
It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of our beloved founder, Pam Butler.
Ms. Butler’s vision, dedication, and unwavering commitment to education have been the foundation of Westwood since she started the school 38 years ago. Ms. Butler was the heart and soul of our school, and she touched the lives of countless students, parents, and staff members. Personally, I had the privilege of having her as a mother and grandmother to my two children.
Ms. Butler was more than just the founder; she was a dedicated educator. Over the years, many students had the privilege of taking Latin or History with her, and some were fortunate enough to have her as their everyday classroom teacher. She was a staunch advocate of the Montessori Method, which served as a guiding principle in the development of our school.
Ms. Butler's vision for The Westwood School was rooted in her belief in the boundless potential of every child. Her passion for learning and her compassionate spirit created a nurturing, challenging, and inclusive environment where every student could thrive. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of our students and in the spirit of our community.
We will be holding a memorial service to honor Ms. Butler's life and contributions to the Westwood community and beyond. Details regarding the service will be shared soon. We invite all members of our community to join us in remembering Ms. Butler and celebrating the remarkable impact she has had on all of us.
As we navigate this profound loss, let us come together as a community to support one another, to share our memories of Ms. Butler, and to continue to uphold the values and vision she instilled in us.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging time.
Warm regards,
Heather
