Dear Ohio-ACC Colleague,

I recently returned from ACC.19 in New Orleans where the updates on MOC for board certification were discussed. I am happy to report that ACC and ABIM are providing a new option to offer cardiologists more choice, relevance, and convenience in meeting the assessment requirement of the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. This assessment option, called the  Collaborative Maintenance Pathway(CMP) , will integrate lifelong learning with assessment. Cardiologists will have three options to maintain their ABIM certification:
1) Traditional 10-year examination
2) Two-year Knowledge Check In
3) ACCSAP with performance assessment.

The CMP will be available as an option starting in 2019 with additional subspecialties as per below:
  • Cardiovascular Disease: 2019
  • Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology: 2020
  •  Interventional Cardiology: 2020
  • Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology: 2020

This pdf provides more in-depth information.
