Dear SEMC,

After a pandemic pause for program evaluation, SEMC successfully relaunched the Jekyll Island Management Institute (JIMI) in 2023. We are pleased to once again offer JIMI in January 2025 with continued updates that ensure sessions meet the moment and address topics relevant to a rapidly evolving museum field.

As we prepare for the second JIMI there is great momentum to provide current and future museum professionals tools they will need to remain unified, focused, and grounded in current best practices while considering how museums move into the future.

Congratulations to all who will take this journey next month on Jekyll Island. SEMC will be with you!

Respectfully,

Zinnia Willits

About the Jekyll Island Management Institute

The Jekyll Island Management Institute (JIMI) is an immersive experience for museum professionals who seek to broaden their understanding of museum operations to advance to management or leadership roles in the museum field.

During the 8-day Institute, participants will learn current best practices of museum visitor-facing and behind-the-scenes work, focusing on incorporating diversity, equity, accessibility, inclusion, and technology into all subjects. JIMI attendees will hear from experts across the museum field, work collaboratively with peers to discuss challenges and solutions to real-world museum issues and develop a network of museum professionals that will last far beyond the program. In 2025, sessions will also offer an opportunity for open dialogue about the future of museums, encouraging the cohort to look forward and consider how mission, vision, and museum practices can and should evolve.
