Thank you for your patience as this newsletter comes together a bit later than planned. Like many families, we navigated unexpected school closures at home while also preparing for an important Chamber board meeting.
This newsletter is a packed issue with lots of timely information for small business owners—covering trainings, funding options, and community updates—so grab a cup of coffee and dive in.
Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to see some meaningful work happening across our community. Leadership in Action (LIA) participants have been actively engaged in their service project, focused on supporting senior citizens and improving access to care right here in Paulding County. You’ll find more details on that project below.
We also had a behind-the-scenes look at new wound-care technology now available locally at Paulding Care Community (formerly The Gardens at Paulding). This advanced, non-invasive therapy uses oxygen and water vapor to support healing for chronic wounds and is available for both residents and outpatients. Additional information about this technology, including how it works and who may benefit, is included later in this newsletter.
That same week also included a great example of hands-on learning right here in our community. Christian Home Educators of Paulding County (CHEPC) hosted a Cookie Bake-Off at the OSU Extension’s commercial kitchen. Kids learned food safety and baking basics alongside Family & Consumer Sciences and 4-H, then worked in teams to create their own cookie recipes using mystery ingredients—including zucchini. It was a fun, collaborative experience made possible by local families and businesses who generously donated ingredients, tools, and prizes. See photos below of the kids learning and the teams they worked on.
We’re also proud to roll out our new 2026 Member Guide and to welcome Maumee Valley Network and Bigham Creative Communications as new Chamber members.
Finally, following our recent board meeting, we’re pleased to welcome Jessica Stechschuelte with Paulding County Economic Development and Owen Newman with State Bank to the Chamber Board.
As always, if you have a story or important information you’d like shared with the community, please feel free to send it our way—we’re always happy to help share your news.

Behind the Scenes: New Wound-Care Technology Now Available Locally
A recent behind-the-scenes visit to Paulding Care Community (formerly The Gardens at Paulding) offered a look at innovative wound-care technology now available right here in our community.
Paulding Care Community has introduced an all-natural oxygen and water vapor therapy designed to support healing for hard-to-heal and chronic wounds. Often compared to hyperbaric therapy, this treatment is different in that it delivers concentrated oxygen and hydrating vapor directly to the wound, supporting the body’s natural healing process.
The therapy is non-invasive, drug-free, and painless, and has shown strong results for chronic wounds—particularly benefiting seniors and individuals with diabetes. Importantly, this treatment is not limited to current residents. Paulding Care Community also offers this therapy on an outpatient basis, providing a local option for advanced wound care that may otherwise require travel outside the county.
The technology used is FDA-cleared and known as Vaporox, which uses oxygen and water vapor to help create an environment that supports faster and more effective healing.
If you or someone you care for could benefit from this type of treatment, the team at Paulding Care Community encourages you to reach out directly to learn more.

Additional details about the technology itself are available through Vaporox or this brochure.

SBA Disaster Loans Available for Local Businesses Impacted by Drought
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans to help small businesses and nonprofits in Paulding County and surrounding areas that lost income due to the drought that began in fall 2025.
These loans are meant to help cover everyday business expenses during tough periods—even if your building or equipment wasn’t damaged. If the drought affected customer traffic, sales, or cash flow, this program may be worth looking into.
This program may be a good fit for businesses such as:
- Retail shops and boutiques
- Restaurants, cafés, and food trucks
- Service-based businesses (salons, auto repair, professional services, etc.)
- Small manufacturers or contractors
- Childcare centers and private nonprofits
Funds can be used for payroll, rent, utilities, inventory, vendor bills, and other operating expenses that became difficult to cover due to reduced income.
While traditional farmers and ranchers are not eligible (except aquaculture businesses), many businesses that support or rely on agriculture may still qualify.
If your business experienced financial strain tied to the drought and you need help staying on track, this is a resource worth exploring.

Leadership in Action (LIA), originally founded by OSU Extension’s Nancy Stehulak in 1993, has evolved into a Chamber-led program that develops local leaders through tours, leadership readings, and community service.
The 2025-2026 LIA cohort consists of 14 individuals pursuing a deeper connection, growth and understanding of themselves, each other and our county. After consulting with multiple county organizations, this year’s team partnered with United Way of Paulding County, led by Lora Lyons, to identify community needs. They chose to support the Paulding County Senior Center’s mission.
The Paulding County Senior Center, led by Kari Morhart, serves residents age 60 and over—roughly 4,700 people, about a quarter of Paulding County’s population. In our small rural community, seniors often need specialized care—such as cancer treatment—in Fort Wayne or Toledo. The Senior Center’s wheelchair-accessible van makes these trips possible, along with trips to meals and activities. We hope you’ll consider donating to this important cause.
