The Museum of Broadcast Communications will induct NPR's longtime legal affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg into the Radio Hall of Fame, along with seven other radio professionals in the 2023 class. Her work over four decades at NPR has won every major journalism award, and she is credited with opening doors for women in the industry. With the induction ceremony in November, she will join NPR colleagues Cokie Roberts, Susan Stamberg, and Carl Kasell -- all previous inductees into the hall of fame.

Fundraising update: Vehicle donations fuel KGOU programs
Vehicle donations to KGOU during the recently completed fiscal year totaled more than $30,000, a substantial boost to our fundraising efforts. Thank you to everyone who gave us a car, truck, boat, jet ski, or RV! We appreciate each and every one, whether it was newer, nice, or a classic, or beat-up, rundown or rusted out -- it helped KGOU purchase and produce the programs you love.

Our vehicle donation program manager, CARS, just announced all the winning stations for their annual "Rustys" awards for 2022, pictured here. Your unwanted car could help set KGOU up for one of these in 2023.

The Documentary: Women Writing Zimbabwe
In modern Zimbabwe, false narratives proliferate and public speech is often controlled. And yet this young African nation has produced many talented and renowned women writers. BBC's The Documentary takes us on a literary tour to meet these fearless women who tell the complicated story of a country which, though only four decades old, has a history that stretches far further. It's this week's KGOU Sunday Radio Matinee, Aug. 13 at 12 p.m.

NPR licenses international version of Tiny Desk Concerts in South Korea
K-pop music took the U.S. by storm -- now a musical phenomenon is headed back the other direction. This month NPR will launch Tiny Desk Korea, the first-ever international TV format version of NPR's iconic Tiny Desk Concert series, in partnership with LG U+, a South Korean telecommunications and media company. Performances will be at a tiny desk far from Bob Boilen's famous workspace at NPR headquarters in Washington, D.C. All performances for Tiny Desk Korea will be filmed, produced and broadcast in South Korea on LG U+ owned platforms.
