As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored.
H.R. 2725, the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act of 2025: This bill would strengthen the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit by increasing state housing credit allocations, modifying financing requirements for certain projects, and making a series of reforms intended to make it easier to develop and preserve affordable housing. Increasing the housing supply is critical to addressing rising housing costs and expanding affordable options for working families, seniors, veterans, and all Americans. This legislation would spur greater housing investment, reduce barriers to housing development, and expand the supply of affordable homes in communities across the country.
H.Res. 737, Supporting the Designation of September 22 as “National Veterans Suicide Awareness and Remembrance Day” and Recognizing the Suicide Awareness and Remembrance Flag: This resolution would recognize September 22 as National Veterans Suicide Awareness and Remembrance Day to honor servicemembers and veterans who have died by suicide and raise awareness of military and veteran suicide. Our nation has a responsibility to remember the veterans and servicemembers we have lost and ensure those who are struggling know that their service, sacrifice, and lives matter. This resolution would help honor those lost to suicide, raise awareness of the challenges facing our military and veteran communities, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the men and women who have served our nation.
H.R. 2499, to codify Executive Order 14248, “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections”: This bill would give Executive Order 14248 the force and effect of law. This Executive Order established federal policies and requirements intended to strengthen election administration and security. Specifically, the order would direct action to require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship with the national mail voter registration form, to expand access to federal information for state and local officials verifying voter eligibility, and to establish standards promoting voter-verifiable paper records in voting systems. This legislation would make these requirements statutory rather than dependent solely on an executive order, preserving them beyond the current administration unless Congress later changes them.
H.R. 3443, the When Minutes Count for Emergency Medical Patients Act: This bill would strengthen emergency medical services by testing new Medicare payments to help ambulance providers maintain access to lifesaving medications and blood products. Specifically, it would establish a five-year payment model providing supplemental payments to participating ground and air ambulance services for the costs of maintaining supplies of critical EMS medications and blood products and require the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to examine Medicare reimbursement for EMS services, workforce shortages, and delays in transportation payments. When patients face life-threatening emergencies, ensuring first responders have immediate access to necessary funding and medications can be critical to saving lives. This legislation would help strengthen emergency medical services, improve access to lifesaving care, and ensure EMS providers have the resources necessary to respond when every minute counts.
