Rogation Sunday

This Sunday

Rogation Sunday is the day when the Church has traditionally offered prayer for God’s blessings on the fruits of the earth and the labors of those who produce our food.

The word “rogation” is from the Latin rogare, “to ask.” Historically, the Rogation Days (the three days before Ascension Day) were a period of fasting and abstinence, beseeching God’s blessing on the crops for a bountiful harvest.

Few of us today directly derive our livelihood from the production of food, yet it is good to be reminded of our dependence upon those who do and our responsibility for the environment. A prayer for Rogation Day is found on page 258 in The Book of Common Prayer.

101 Classes begin

Thursdays at 6:00 pm

Everyone welcome!!

Whether you are new to the Episcopal church or a long-time member, this is a place to explore and answer questions. We’ll learn many things, and hopefully deepen your faith and understanding, while learning more of the beautiful depth of our tradition.

Enjoy a walkthrough of the history and beliefs of our church, what is known as catechesis. We’ll explore many aspects of the church, seeking to draw closer to God as we do. We will explore how we Episcopalians fit into this odd global thing called the Anglican Communion.

We will do this through a book called Always Open by Richard Giles, available through Amazon. When we have discussed our way through that book, we will discuss the catechesis found within the prayer book itself.

Construction Update

Rain delay in effect

Like the Royals, we have encountered a Rain Delay as a result of all the rain we received.

Water has entered the building through the roof, the foundation and the east door from the parking lot, which damaged some of the new construction.

First things first, we will be fixing the roof and replacing the entire north face as soon as possible. Bill West Roofing has been hired to do the work.

We have two quotes for the installation of the windows in the narthex addition and will choose a vendor and order the windows next week. Finishing the windows will seal the narthex addition from moisture as well.

Flooring installation will be scheduled when the building is watertight again.

We know this news is frustrating to everyone, but we will persevere and get this project done soon!
