Awake, north wind,
and come, south wind!
Blow on my garden,
that its fragrance may spread everywhere.
Song of Solomon 4:16 (NIV)
Over the past weekend, our Junior Warden, Norris Commodore, gathered with other Trinitarians to work on the upkeep of our beautiful property and gardens.
While it may seem like small uninteresting work, it does not go unnoticed by greater Newport around us. To the folks walking their dogs every day, the travelers visiting from ship and sea, the tourists peaking in our windows and throwing pennies in our fountain, and the forgotten folks just spending some time in the shade, they notice and appreciate every little action we take to keeping our property and church welcoming and safe.
This year’s summer yard work included: weeding the flower beds, trimming the outer hedges and bushes, trash and rubbish clean-up, and general tidying upkeep. This could not have been feasible without the helping hands of Richard Alexander, Ellen and James Patterson, John Gilmartin, Scott and Debbie Bartlett, John Smith, Donna Ellis, John Oppel, and of course our Junior Warden, Norris Commodore.
In addition, we would like to thank Jeff Gordon, for his generous contribution to having the hedges around the sacred churchyard professionally trimmed, and Charlotte Johnson, who has planted ivy between the sidewalk and the Columbarium Wall, filling its emptiness with growth.
We hope to see you Sunday!

Trinity would very much like to begin construction of the new building and to that aim, we are pulling together the pieces needed to move forward.
The design committee has approved a concept featuring offices and space for children, families, and meeting space. This will meet our immediate needs by removing the obstacles that keep us from taking steps to attract younger members.
In conjunction with the new kitchen in Honyman and with the planned eventual renovations to its second floor, the new building will put Trinity in excellent physical condition to minister and thrive.
This week, given the long lead times needed, preliminary designs for the new building were submitted to the Historic District Commission. In addition, this week we expect to receive cost estimates from Behan Brothers for the new building. Once we get that information received and digested, we plan to have an all-parish meeting to review progress.
Stay tuned!

Geer Isdale is taking the lead to reinstate The Hospitality Committee.
The intention is to provide opportunities for Trinity members to spend social time together. But maybe even more importantly, we wish to begin to reach out to visitors to our church who would like to consider membership.
This ministry was very active in years past. Would you be interested in helping us? Maybe you have successful ideas from the past, maybe you want to share new ideas, or maybe you would like to help us with the initiatives.
All are welcome.
Please reach out to Geer at 401.935.0962 or GeerIsdale@gmail.com with any interest in participating.
Thank you!

It has been so long since we have been able to gather together socially and we would like to restart our Koinonia celebrations.
Koinonia (coin-oh-nee’-ah) is the Greek word for fellowship.
There’s nothing formal about this time together and no agenda - just a chance to get to know some of the people of Trinity with good food and conversation. It is also a wonderful opportunity to include friends that might be interested in coming to Trinity.
Would you be willing to host an event?
This will be an ongoing fellowship and we will continue to add parties.
If you have an interest in hosting an event (you decide all the details) or wish to learn more, please reach out to Geer Isdale, 401.935.0962 GeerIsdale@gmail.com

Steady as she goes! As many of you have noticed, we are in the middle of getting our brass candle chandeliers and electric sconces cleaned and polished (hence the ‘ambiance’ on Sunday mornings). The cost for this project is $17,000, which includes cleaning, polishing, and an Electrician to remove and reinstall the pieces.
Since this expense was not included in our approved budget for 2022, the Vestry is still requesting donations from the congregation to cover this expense. Any size donation is welcomed and will help us avoid a budget deficit.
Please include the note “Chandelier/Sconces work” in the memo line.
If you have any questions, please contact Junior Warden, Norris Commodore, at
401-619-0359. Thank you for your continuing stewardship of our parish church.
