Join us for the Lakeville Journal’s Street Fair — a fun-filled day for all ages! Enjoy live kids music with Danny T from 11am to 12pm, followed by the crowd favorite Northwest Passage band from 1 to 3pm. There will be a face painter on-site all day, a scavenger hunt just for kids, food vendors, and exciting giveaways throughout the event. We are saluting our local nonprofits as they focus on the essential services they provide. Learn more at LakevilleJournal.com/street-fair. | | |

Food Waste Separation at The Jane Lloyd Clambake
The Clambake, held on July 19th, was a great success on many levels. 1) The number of tickets sold for the clambake beat last year’s number; 2) a late, but not too late, offer to match a $10,000 donation brought cheers and tears to the organizers and the crowd, and 3) The Salisbury/Sharon Transfer Station, with the help of volunteers collecting food waste from the tables, hauled off 575 pounds of food waste (more than last year) to be composted rather than trucked to a landfill.
Outreach at the Transfer Station
On July 26th, a great crew of volunteers answered questions from residents about the Food Waste Drop-Off Program at the Transfer Station. In all, over 26 households joined the program in one day. Recycling guidelines were also available. At the table by the Swap Shop, volunteers encouraged users to follow the Do’s and Don’ts of Swap Shop guidelines. Residents were reminded of the white textile bins for shoes and clothing, and the specified cages in the red area across from the Swap Shop for collection of TVs and other electronics, as well as batteries and bulbs, propane tanks, refrigerants, and mattresses.

TRANSFER STATION STICKERS
New stickers are available; purchased at Town Hall or by mail. Stickers should be affixed to your vehicle’s windshield before August 1st.
Every resident in the towns of Salisbury and Sharon must pay a User Fee (aka Sticker Fee). Even if you use a hauler (ex. Richard Ralph or Welsh Sanitation) to transport your material to the facility, their arrangement with you does not include the User Fee Sticker cost. This fee must be paid whether you use the station during the year or not. Once paid, you will receive a sticker that will allow you access to the station throughout the year, should you decide to go with your own vehicle. Your current (pink) sticker is valid through August 1st, 2025.
2. Forms will be available at Town Hall and online at: https://www.salisburysharontransferstation.com
3. You must pay for the sticker(s) at Town Hall by Cash/Check/Credit Card (There is a processing fee for credit cards).
To return by, mail to: Selectmen's Secretary, PO Box 548, Salisbury, CT 06068
If you have any questions, please call 860-435-5170.

Tips of the month
1) The simplest way to think about what plastics are recyclable is this:
2) If you are in the Food Waste Program, and are unable to get to the Transfer Station for a while, consider double-bagging (with biobags) and placing in the freezer until your next trip to the Transfer Station – particularly in the summer.
